Lamar Odom Talks 'Secretly Dating' Taraji P. Henson & How He Blew It

Lamar Odom is spilling more details about his personal life, revealing that he once dated Taraji P. Henson and cheated on her before marrying Khloé Kardashian.

Odom is known for his tumultuous marriage to Kardashian that ended in divorce a few years ago, but in his new memoir “Darkness to Light,” the former NBA player opens up about being with “Empire” actress Henson.

According to MadameNoire, the 39-year-old revealed in his book that he and Henson, 48, once met and exchanged numbers.

“She was just such a wise woman that she could see through whatever smooth act I was trying to put on,” Odom wrote. “She refused to be just another conquest, and truthfully, I didn’t want her to be.”

“We started secretly dating and quickly fell in love,” he continued, describing his time with Henson as “one of the happiest times of my life.”

SECRET DATES

Odom and Henson started dating sometime in 2008, according to his account, and although it appears their relationship was kept a secret, the former athlete accompanied his lady love to the 2009 Golden Globes where they grabbed a bite afterward with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who have since divorced.

MAKING PROGRESS

Odom revealed that he and Henson were so close that he got to meet her son Marcel and some of her friends.

“She introduced me to her fourteen-year-old son, Marcel, and was at my house nearly every day. Sometimes she’d bring some of her Hollywood friends, like actress Sanaa Lathan who starred in ‘Love And Basketball.’ …I don’t think I ever connected with another black woman as deeply as I did Taraji.”

AN UNPLEASANT END

Things were going smoothly for the two until Odom’s infidelity put an end to their bliss. He detailed his regret in the revealing memoir.

“I felt guilty, but I was craving immediate sex,” Odom admitted, according to Daily Mail. “Things were amazing, but of course, God gave me a layup, and I blew it.”

Henson has since moved on and is now engaged to former NFL player Kalvin Hayden.

ODOM & KARDASHIAN

Mere months after his split from Henson, Odom married Kardashian in September of 2009. The marriage was fraught with infidelity and drug-use allegations, and the reality star eventually filed for divorce in 2013.

Previously-released excerpts of Odom’s book describe how his dangerous habits also led to the ruin of his relationship with his ex-wife.

“I couldn’t keep my [expletive] in my pants or the coke out of my nose,” the Queens, New York native wrote. “Drug addicts are incredibly skilled at hiding their habit. I’d get defensive, and Khloé would just drop it.”

A year before their divorce was finalized in 2016, Kardashian rushed to Odom’s side after the latter slipped into a coma following a drug and alcohol-fueled binge.

Odom has two children, Destiny and Lamar Jr., from a previous relationship while Kardashian, 34, is a mom to one-year-old True with ex NBA star boyfriend Tristan Thompson.

Kardashian and Thompson’s relationship famously ended amid a publicized cheating scandal earlier this year.
