Magic Johnson's Son EJ Steps out in Blue Mini Dress for His 27th Birthday Bash
EJ Johnson turned 27 on Tuesday, and as usual, the fashionista son of basketball legend Magic Johnson rocked the special day in style. EJ also spared time for some reflection on the pains of the past year.
If there’s anything EJ’s known for, it’s his bold and unapologetic style, and on June 4, he displayed that in a blue Balenciaga mini dress.
The reality star paired the mono-sleeved outfit, which according to Page Six costs $2,290, with a diamond-encrusted watch, $995 Balenciaga booties and a turquoise Hermès Birkin bag.
'This has certainly been the most painful and difficult year of my life' ~ EJ Johnson
In a video obtained by Daily Mail and attached below, EJ is seen strutting from his black Lamborghini to meet up with friends at the upscale restaurant, Craig’s, in West Hollywood.
“It’s my birthday,” he announced as paparazzi clicked away.
EJ’s birthday was not all fun and laughter, though. The “EJNYC” star took some time off to reflect on his life’s journey this past year, admitting that it’s been bittersweet.
Alongside a slideshow of some of his hottest pictures, the openly gay TV personality wrote:
“Today I’m 27! This has certainly been the most painful and difficult year of my life as well as one of great growth power strength and beauty. After losing the most important person in my life I wasn’t sure if I would be able to laugh smile or find joy again.”
The “most important person” EJ refers to here is most likely his friend, Lyric McHenry, who died last August under horrific circumstances.
'Self exploration is one of [the] most precious gifts you can receive and it’s never too late to start' ~ EJ Johnson
McHenry, 26, was reportedly 20-weeks pregnant when her body was discovered in an empty New York street, wearing nothing but a pajama top and underwear and in possession of cocaine.
“But through all the darkness [and] uncertainty I put myself first,” EJ continued his birthday message. “I found joy in searching my soul and nurturing my gifts and talents. I laughed with my friends and family who kept their hands on me during this process.”
He further revealed that his acting coach, “Empire” star Tasha Smith, helped him through the process of finding himself with her wise words, adding:
“I’ve never felt more beautiful, powerful, intelligent, innovative, sexy, creative and comfortable in my own skin than I do today. So I hope everyone who reads this finds comfort and power in these words. Self exploration is one of [the] most precious gifts you can receive and it’s never too late to start. NOW, if you’ll excuse me it’s for me to put on my crown and get to work.”
Happy birthday, EJ!
