Tyler Perry Wants Actors to 'Please Stop' Taking out Billboards to Get His Attention

Tyler Perry sent a message through Instagram to actors who want to work with him.

Tyler Perry is one of the most successful producers, and directors in Hollywood and actors will do anything to be noticed by him in the hopes of landing a breakthrough role in one of his productions.

One young actress took things too far, and Perry took to the Internet with a message to all aspiring stars.

ACTRESS RENTS BILLBOARD TO CATCH TYLER PERRY'S ATTENTION

One enterprising young actress went to great trouble and expense to catch the director's attention by renting two billboards near Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta.

The billboards were printed with her headshot and read:

“ATTENTION MR. PERRY Racquel Bailey Is Your Next Leading Lady.”

Forbes listed Perry as the highest paid man in entertainment in 2011, earning $130 million between May 2010 and May 2011.

TYLER PERRY: "TO AUDITION IS FREE"

Perry shared the photo on his official Facebook page, and responded with an appeal for the actress to save her money and audition.

“Auhhh…. soooooo…… here’s the deal. This is not the way to get my attention if you’re looking for a role in one of my shows. Please DON’T DO THIS, SAVE YOUR MONEY!! This is the third time that someone has done this. PLEASE STOP! To audition is FREE!! I’m sure you can use that money for a better purpose,” he wrote.

Perry then told Bailey that he had already seen her work in a TV show she had worked on, and told her he admired her work.

“And by the way, you were great in THE NIGHT OF! It was my favorite show a couple years ago. I ALREADY SAW YOU!! So just audition and keep your money!!”

ANGELA BAILEY WAS INVITED TO AUDITION

Even though Perry told her off, it looks as if Bailey's gamble paid off. She was contacted by a casting agent and granted an audition for a pilot show Perry is working on.

Bailey got the idea for the billboard ploy from an HBO biopic Introducing "Dorothy Dandridge" in which the legendary African American actress revealed that she'd been told that the only way to catch an agent’s attention was to plaster her face on billboards.

Who knows, by next year Angela Bailey may be a household name, thanks to that billboard.
