Alex Rodriguez Describes Jennifer Lopez as His Dream Date in 1998 Interview Clip
Alex Rodriguez shared a clip of a telling interview of his younger self expressing his interest to go on a "dream date" with Jennifer Lopez. "I just had a feeling," he says.
It appears like Alex Rodriguez already had his eyes set on his fiancé Jennifer Lopez decades before they met. A 1998 clip of the former Yankees ballplayer recently surfaced revealing his "dream date" was the multi-talented star.
"I JUST HAD A FEELING"
Alex tweeted the telling clip where he was being interviewed by MLB Network’s “International Talk” and he talks about his “dream date.” With a shy grin, he says “Jennifer Lopez.” Then in his twenties, Alex added, "Hopefully you can find me a date with her."
It seems Alex was inviting his future and he realizes this now. “I just had a feeling,” he writes to caption the ironic clip.
"Someone taps me on the shoulder, and I turn around and I do not recognize this person. And it's Jennifer."
"SOMEONE TAPS ME ON THE SHOULDER"
Flash forward to 2017 and the 43-year-old got his wish. 12 years after meeting Jennifer at a New York Yankees game while the singer was still married to Marc Anthony, the would-be couple reconnected when they bumped into each other at a restaurant. Alex recalled the moment during a sit-down with Ellen DeGeneres and revealed how the actress made the first move.
"Someone taps me on the shoulder, and I turn around and I do not recognize this person. And it's Jennifer."
Alex was apparently a big fan of his future wife who even signed an autograph for him in 1999.
Alex said he felt embarrassed not recognizing the star at first because she was dressed as her character in "Shades of Blue."'Oh my God, Jennifer, you look beautiful.'" he said when he finally realized who she was. They talked for a while and Jennifer ended the conversation with an invitation to further reconnect. "And I went home that night and reached out," Alex finished.
Alex invited Jennifer on a dinner date and the rest is history.
A YOUNG BALL PLAYER ASKS A GLOBAL SUPERSTAR FOR AN AUTOGRAPH
Alex was apparently a big fan of his future wife who even signed an autograph for him in 1999. Last year, the sports broadcaster shared a throwback of that signed photo which was addressed to his daughter Alexa who is a fan of the singer.
“#TBT to almost 20 years ago when a big time global pop superstar signed a pic for a young ball player,” Alex wrote to capture the pic.
LIVING THE DREAM
In March, Alex got down on one knee and asked for Jennifer's hand in marriage. It was a beautiful oceanside moment that assured the culmination of his lifelong dream. Alex and Jennifer’s love story is proof that that dreams do come true. It may have taken two decades for Alex’s to materialize but it happened at the right time for the two of them.
