Russell Wilson Opens Door for Ciara on Date Night & Sparks Dialogue on Chivalry

Chivalry isn’t dead as Ciara’s husband, Russell Wilson demonstrated during a date with his wife. Many fans were impressed though a controversy erupted over how Ciara reacted to her husband’s gesture.

It was date night for Ciara and Russell Wilson who made sure his queen was treated like one. As she boarded their classic convertible outside their sprawling estate, he walked around to open the door for her before walking back to his side to take the wheel.

Ciara showed her appreciation by sharing a clip of Russell’s chivalrous move with the soundtrack of Sting’s “Shape of My Heart” in the background. She wrote,

“A lil old school wit it [two heart emojis]#DateNight.”

FANS LAUDED THE COUPLE

In the singer's comments section, some fans expressed their admiration for Russell who proved gentlemen are still out there.

“Russ is RARE,” one wrote while another delighted in the fact that there’s “A man who still opens the door!”

Meanwhile, another congratulated Ciara for landing a man she deserves.

OTHERS SLAMMED THE SINGER

But while the couple earned admiration, there were those who picked on Ciara for not doing her part. One commenter called her out on a rule she broke.

Others agreed and chimed in with their own versions of slamming Ciara.

“She ain’t reach over and unlock his door, she ain’t one of the greats lol.”

“Ceecee you was suppose to lean over and open his door boo, don’t let that happen again."

THE CONTROVERSIAL RULE

The rule was popularized by the 1993 film, “A Bronx Tale” which saw mobster Sonny LeSpecchio reminding a teenage Calogero Anello about the type of girl he should be dating.

“Listen to me, kid,” LeSpecchio warns, “If she doesn’t reach over, lift up that button for you, so you can get in, that means she’s a selfish broad and all you’re seeing is the tip of the iceberg. You dump her and dump her fast.”

Fans referred to the film when a controversy erupted on whether Ciara should be expected to unlock the door for her husband or not.

Some said she did nothing wrong and shouldn’t be forced to abide by a rule from a film yet others insisted she should have.

Regardless of this argument, we’re guessing Ciara and Russell had a great time during their date especially since the NFL quarterback is currently on off-season time and the hitmaker is about to embark on a tour for her album, “Beauty Marks.” The couple must be making the most of their spare time to heat up their marriage which, in our opinion, is a union made in heaven.

Ciara appreciates how Russell treats her son like his own and admits it was one of the things that drew her even closer to him.

Ciara gushed about it too during a recent episode of “Red Table Talk” where she opened up about feeling a sense of calm in her relationship with Russell.

“It was different,” she said. “I never had that feeling in my life. It was just like, it was calm. It’s a different level of love.”

Ciara and Russell share two-year-old daughter, Princess Sienna who’s also a sister to the singer’s older son, Future Jr. His father is the rapper with the same name. Ciara appreciates how Russell treats her son like his own and admits it was one of the things that drew her even closer to him.

The couple married in 2016 and though they are pretty new, we won’t be surprised if their union reaches decades with the kind of partnership they have.
