Cardi B and husband Offset celebrated their daughter Kulture’s first year of life with a “lit” celebration in New York on Saturday, and although the party was affected by the city’s blackout, the rappers and their guests kept the party alive with their joy.

The adorable girl turned one last Wednesday, but the celebration took place on Saturday with a colorful Word Party-themed bash that included a five-tiered cake, cupcakes, cake pops, macaroons, and more desserts and food for the guests.

They also had a Build-a-Bear station, huge flowers arrangements, balloons, and giant colorful letters spelling “Kulture” at the entrance.

MATCHING OUTFITS

For the occasion, Cardi and Kulture wore matching rainbow outfits specially designed by Jeremy Scott and Moschino. While the “Money” rapper donned a body-hugging off-the-shoulder dress, Kulture rocked a colorful tutu and a matching flower crown.

Cardi and Offset shared videos of their daughter enjoying the music at the party, dancing in her father’s arms, and even having her first smashing-cake moment after changing to a more casual—and probably less expensive—outfit.

Although photos and videos seem to indicate that the party was a complete success, Cardi revealed that the celebration was affected by the general power outage that left Manhattan in the dark for a few hours on Saturday.

CARDI’S MESSAGE AFTER THE BLACKOUT

Cardi shared an Instagram video thanking her guests for maintaining the party alive despite the inconvenience, as she explained:

“The fact that I wanted my daughter[‘s] party in 42nd street instead of Jersey and to my f***ing luck New York had a power outage right on that Deum area!! BITCH THE DEVIL. But WOW how a negative situation turn into a LITUATION !!!”

“Omg I had soooooo much f***in’ fun and my daughter as well. Thank ya sooo much everybody that came, I know my daughter won’t remember this day, but when she older and have her kids this will be a good story to tell lols. I will be daydream[ing] this day for ma long.”

The rapper explained in her video that after she arrived at the party’s venue, the lights went off. Then, they managed to restore the music and some of the lights with a power plant, and people kept dancing and having fun.

As they thought the power had been restored and proceeded to cut the cake, lights went off once again.

“And then they cut the lights back on, and nobody wanted to leave! And it’s ‘cause of y’all, and it was such a fun party, thank you so much,” she concluded.

EXPENSIVE FIRST BIRTHDAY

Weeks ahead of the party, Cardi wasn’t shy when she told fans on an Instagram live that she spent $400,000 on the birthday bash, claiming that although she was aware it was too much for a child’s birthday, Kulture will only celebrate her one year of life once.

On top of that, the 26-year-old also gifted her daughter a custom-made Word Party necklace by Eliantte & Co, valued in $100,000 and made with white gold, diamonds, and enamel.

“KULTURE new chain. WORD PARTY it's her fav. Thanks, @eliantte .....YOU KNOW A BAD B***H GON SPOIL HER,” Cardi captioned a video that gave her fans a look at every detail on the jewelry piece.

Meanwhile, Cardi is set to appear in court in September after being indicted last June on felony charges of assault, harassment, conspiracy and second-degree reckless endangerment connected to a fight at a Queens strip club last year.

She pleaded not guilty but if convicted, she could face up to four years in jail.
