THE END OF THEIR MARRIAGE

When photos of Carmelo basking under the sun on a yacht with another woman hit headlines in June, many were concerned for his wife who soon posted a photo of a knife stabbing the heart.

Shortly after, La La announced their separation, putting an end to their 9-year-marriage which had just been revived from a 2017 split. And though the 40-year-old stunner is reportedly taking legal steps to dissolve their marriage, she was clear about one thing – she and Carmelo will remain devoted parents to their 12-year-old son.

THEIR CONTINUED DEDICATION TO THEIR SON

Proof of this is in a recent clip the “Power” star shared which features Kiyan learning from his father his signature moves. La La proudly revealed how dedicated her son is to the sport.

“My son is always working hard, never complains, and truly loves the game of basketball,” she wrote to caption the clip of Carmelo training Kiyan in the sport.

Carmelo is currently sitting out the NBA after he was released by the Houston Rockets in November. It’s been a struggle for the 39-year-old to be signed on to another team since then.

La La also recognized what a great teacher the NBA star is by adding, “He is blessed to have the best teacher in the game...his dad.”

She ended her caption feeling proud of her son’s commitment.

“He wants to learn all of Mel’s moves & he studies them constantly. Super proud of his hard work and dedication...”

Friends of the former couple approved of the clip including Kim Kardashian who wrote, “I love this” in La La’s comments section. Carmelo’s NBA contemporary Matt Barnes chimed in writing, “no one better to teach em.”

HIS STRUGGLE GETTING BACK IN THE GAME

Carmelo is currently sitting out the NBA after he was released by the Houston Rockets in November. It’s been a struggle for the 39-year-old to be signed on to another team since then. Speaking on ESPN’s First Take earlier this month, he revealed talking to the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers for a possible contract but neither were interested.

Luckily for Kiyan, his father’s time off the court is giving him more time to train with him. In a few years, we won’t be surprised if he’d be making waves as a basketball star like his dad.
