TMZ: Singer Tasleema Yasin Sues Nipsey Hussle Estate, Claims She's Owed Royalties for 'Hussle & Motivate'
A singer has filed court documents claiming Nipsey Hussle’s estate owes her a cut from his hit 2018 track “Hussle & Motivate” on which she allegedly has a contribution.
According to TMZ and Complex, singer Tasleema Yasin is asking the slain rapper’s estate to give her what is due as a co-author under the US copyright law.

In the documents filed at the Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday, September 5, Yasin reportedly claims she wrote and recorded a four-note vocal phrase that plays throughout the runtime of “Hussle & Motivate.” She also says her voice is featured in a countermelody heard throughout the song’s chorus.

YASIN'S CLAIMS
The legal complaint, as published by Complex, also reads:
"In November of 2016, I collaborated with decedent Ermias Joseph Asghedom on a musical track entitled 'Hussle & Motivate.' I wrote and performed the ascending four-note vocal phrase featured throughout the song's runtime, as well as a countermelody in my higher register featured prominently during the song's chorus...
Asghedom was obligated to credit and account to me for my ratable share of any monies earned by Asghedom in connection with 'Hussle & Motivate.'"

Per the outlet, Yasin is not asking for a specific sum but requires Hussle’s estate to provide an accounting of monies earned on the song before deciding how much she should get.
“Hussle & Motivate,” which Yasin claims she worked on in 2016, was released by Hussle (birth name Ermias Asghedom) in 2018 and featured on his Grammy-nominated album “Victory Lap.”

A PAINFUL LOSS
“Victory Lap” became Hussle’s final album after the rapper was gunned down on March 31 in Los Angeles and died at the hospital from gunshot wounds to the head and torso. He was 33.
In the time since his death, Hussle’s family has had to deal with several legal issues. As reported by Revolt, AMEX filed a creditor’s claim last month, alleging that the rapper owed $46,930.67.
MORE LEGAL ISSUES
Hussle’s estate also reportedly received another creditor’s claim from Paramount Recording Group in which the company sought $32,000 from a 2012 judgment.
Putting aside all the unpleasantness, however, Hussle’s longtime girlfriend and baby mama Lauren London, paid tribute to the rapper on what would have been his 34th birthday last month.

CELEBRATING AN ICON
“Today We celebrate You, my beloved. Today we honor you, King,” London, who shares three-year-old son Kross with Hussle, wrote on Instagram. “We are to live in our highest vibrations today because that is how Nip lived his life.”
Hussle’s first baby mama Tanisha Foster, who is currently battling in court for guardianship of their 11-year-old daughter Emani, also paid tribute to the rapper with a previously-unseen throwback photo.
