Idris Elba's Only Daughter Isan Is Heading off to College, Will Study Film and Television Production at NYU

Idris Elba's daughter proudly announced her acceptance at NYU and the course she'll be taking up inspired by her father's work. The actor's eldest was this year's Golden Globes Ambassador.

Idris Elba’s daughter, Isan Elba is off to college. The 17-year-old revealed on her Instagram that she was accepted in NYU for the class of 2024.

Isan shared her photo wearing her future university’s sweater when she announced that she’ll be a Tisch School of the Arts student. Standing in front of Washington Square Park in New York City, she proudly shared that she’ll be taking up Film and Television Production.

Isan is the daughter of Idris’ first wife, Hanne “Kim” Norgaard...Hanne was still pregnant to Isan when Idris left her.

CAN'T HELP BEING A DAD

Isan made waves earlier this year when she became the Golden Globes Ambassador. She accompanied her father to the event and he couldn’t help but gush over her.

Speaking to reporters that day, the actor shared that he gave his daughter some advice ahead of the event. He told her “elegance is presence” and to just keep nodding politely even when she doesn’t understand what’s going on. “I can’t help but be a dad,” he explained.

ON BECOMING A FILMMAKER

Isan originally wanted to be an actress but realized her passion was behind the scenes. She told Glamour last year that she gained appreciation for production after observing her father when he directed “Yardie.” This made her think of becoming a filmmaker instead.

That dream is about to become a reality now that Isan is embarking in college. No doubt, she has her father’s support. Likewise with her stepmother, Sabrina Dhowre who took to her comments section and wrote, “So proud of you, Issy.”

IDRIS' HISTORY WITH THE WOMEN IN HIS LIFE

Isan is the daughter of Idris’ first wife, Hanne “Kim” Norgaard. They live in Atlanta, Georgia. Hanne was still pregnant to Isan when Idris left her. Their marriage lasted for four years from 1999 to 2003.

After Hanne, Idris had a short-lived marriage to property lawyer Sonya Nicole Hamlin. The couple reportedly wed under the influence of alcohol but due to pressure from the public, their union only lasted for four months from April to August 2006.

Eight years later, Idris welcomed a son, Winston Elba, 5, with his girlfriend, Naiyana Garth who is a makeup artist. Their relationship ended after four years due to Idris’ alleged infidelity. One of the women linked to him at the time was rapper K Michelle.

In spite of vowing to remarry again, Idris fell madly in love with Sabrina and she became his wife in April. The couple are now happily in each other’s arms, hopefully for keeps.
