Angela Rye Opens Up about Split with Rapper Common

CNN’s political commentator Angela Rye recently opened up about her split from rapper Common, revealing the reason behind their separation and assuring fans she has nothing but love for the man.

Angela Rye and Common were in an on-and-off relationship that started in the summer of 2017. They split in March 2018, and the “Selma” star then confirmed in “The Angie Martinez Show” in August 2019 that they had relinked their romance.

However, it seems like Common might have jinxed the relationship because a month later, the couple split for the second time.

Although she didn’t reveal the name of her new beau, Angela said fans would be able to decipher the mystery if they paid attention.

Rye addressed the split on the Kwanza edition of her “On One With Angela Rye” podcast, revealing that the reason for their separation was her desire to have more kids and Common’s hesitance about it.

“We just want different things,” Rye said, explaining that she realized this after deciding to spend more time with her 9-year-old godson Ryan.

She recalled:

“We had been talking probably for two months about ‘let’s see where things go’ because I’m leaning towards ‘I want kids’ and he was leaning towards ‘I don’t know,’ and I think when somebody tells you they don’t know they don’t really want that, they just don’t want to hurt you.”

Angela continued explaining that Common is more focused on his career at the moment, and since she has clarity about what she wants in life, there was no point in dwelling over their differences, so they did what was best for both.

“I think it was an amicable parting of ways,” she assured fans. “But we’re very clear about the fact that we were not aligned in those interests. We will always be friends. He’s a really good person.”

Rye also credited her relationship with Common for helping her to become more receptive to love and for helping realize what she needs from a relationship, concepts that she’s now applying to her new relationship.

Although she didn’t reveal the name of her new beau, Angela said fans would be able to decipher the mystery if they paid attention.

According to Bossip, the man in question is Karim Webb, a franchise owner, activist, and father of three. Rye recently shared a pic on her Instagram stories that showed her all booed up to Webb on a pool.

However, Angela hasn’t confirmed the identity of her new boyfriend yet.
