Lara Spencer from GMA Met Her 2nd Husband Rick McVey on a Blind Date and They Dated for 2 Years before Tying the Knot

Love comes in unexpected ways – such as being set up on a blind date! But fast forward – "Good Morning America" host Lara Spencer gave her fans a glimpse of her wedding day with her longtime friend Rick McAvey.

Spencer and the tech entrepreneur exchanged vows in an outdoor ceremony in Vail, Colorado, last August 2018. At least 135 friends and family members witnessed their lovely union, as reported by Medium.

The couple met through a blind date arranged by a mutual friend. After that surprise meeting, the two dated throughout 2017 and got engaged the following year.

AN EXCELLENT ENTREPRENEUR

McAvey is the chairman, founder, and CEO of the publicly traded and successful financial technology company, MarketAxess.

In 2012, he was honored with the "Ernst & Young National Entrepreneur of the Year" for financial services for his work in the company.

During their wedding, Spencer wore a mermaid-themed wedding gown made by Adam Zohar, which she paired with beautiful dangling earrings. For his part, McAvey donned a cream blazer with a bow tie and a pair of black pants.

SECOND CHANCE AT MARRIAGE

Spencer was escorted by her 16-year-old son Duff Haffenreffer while walking down the aisle. McAvey waited at the end, mesmerized by her fiancé's stunning look.

McAvey is Spencer's second husband. Her first husband was a real estate broker and former reporter David Haffenreffer whom she was married to for 15 years until their divorce in 2015.

The 49-year-old bride shared on social media that it was the best day of her life.

A LOVELY DAY IN COLORADO

She has two children from David. McAvey, on the other hand, has three children from a previous relationship.

What made Spencer and McAvey's big day even more special was that each of their children participated in their official union. They even made lovely readings in the ceremony.

The 49-year-old bride, who is also a correspondent for "Nightline" and "ABC News," shared on social media that it was the best day of her life.

The venue in Colorado also added to the couple's beautiful wedding ceremony. "It happened!!!" she said on her social media account as reported by People.

Just a month after she got married, Spencer drew flak for her negative remarks on Prince George's ballet lessons.

Abby Lee Miller of Dance Moms criticized Spencer's comment and said every child deserves the right to dance and should not be laughed about it.
