Dolly Parton Wishes Willie Nelson a Happy 87th Birthday
Dolly Parton wished her “great friend” Willie Nelson a happy birthday as the legendary singer turned 87-years-old on Wednesday - and still going strong.
From one legend to another, Dolly Parton took to social media to wish Willie Nelson a happy 87th birthday with a sweet tribute.
“A great friend is one you can share hair tips with. Happy birthday!” Dolly wrote alongside a picture taken with Willie, where she admiringly held his long braided hair between her fingertips.

WILLIE HAS MORE THAN GOOD HAIR TIPS
But Willie comes up with all sorts of good ideas. Just recently, the singer came up with a plan to use face masks as a way to raise money for those in need amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Tanya Boike, a Houston resident that is friendly with Willie’s granddaughter, Noelle Ward, started making face masks with a local nurse to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
Having made and given out over 500 masks so far, Tanya wanted to make sure that Willie and his wife Annie D’Angelo also received some to keep them safe. However, Willie came up with a better purpose for the masks.
WILLIE'S IDEA
“[Noelle] texted me a few minutes later and said ‘Pops would rather sign these and have them auction them off. That way, you can get more materials and keep making these masks for free,’” Tanya reportedly explained to KTRK.
Touched that her masks would be used for such a good cause, Tanya listed the signed makes on the auction website called “FrontLine-Angels,” with the bid for each mask starting at $200.
With bidding now live, they have reportedly raised $300 so far. Not surprised by her grandfather’s actions, Noelle told the station that it’s just “who he is.”
DRIVEN BY POSITIVE THINKING
Willie’s lifelong motto has a lot to do with the man he became. Driven with a can-do attitude, he said two years ago that “a negative thought will kill you,” and credited his “want” for performing for keeping him on the road even at the age of 85.
Ahead of Willie’s 87th birthday in 2018, the A&E Network celebrated his decades in the music industry, which includes a whopping 67 studio albums, with a two-hour special in his honor.
WILLIE'S POSITIVITY EVENTUALLY LED TO LASTING LOVE
Annie D'Angelo is Willie Nelson's fourth wife, and the couple tied the knot in September 1991. By then, the legendary singer had already been divorced from his third wife, Connie Koepke, since 1988.
Before Willie finalized his divorce from his second wife, Shirley Collie, in 1971, he had already moved in and married Connie.
Willie's first union with Martha Mathews came to an end in 1962 after a marriage that lasted a decade.
