On April 21, 2020, actress Heather Locklear celebrated her first year of sobriety. A source has since given an update on how the star is doing given her tremendous milestone.
The “Dynasty” actress has struggled with substance abuse issues for a long time. Last spring she enrolled in an in-patient facility for treatment.

Heather is always happiest when she is with her daughter
When she went into the in-patient program, a source alleged that she was struggling with “alcohol, pills, and her mental health.” However, Locklear is quite grateful to be back at home with her daughter Ava, 22.
HEATHER IS HAPPY WITH AVA
The pair are staying together amid the novel coronavirus pandemic. The star shares her daughter with ex-husband Richie Sambora.
Another insider had this to say about Locklear and Ava: “Heather is always happiest when she is with her daughter.” The “Melrose Place” star has been keeping busy while self-isolating at home.
HER LOCKDOWN ACTIVITIES
She’s been doing some gardening, cooking, and taking walks. The actress has been cooking up a storm for herself, her daughter, and her parents.
TAKING CARE OF HER PARENTS
Locklear’s father is almost 91 and her mother is in her 80s. The star “delivers food to them often,” according to her friend.
CELEBRATING A YEAR OF SOBRIETY
The actress celebrated her one-year sobriety by taking to social media with a post that featured a quote attributed to the late Maya Angelou. In March 2020, Locklear took to Instagram again to share words of encouragement amid the outbreak.

In a rare video recording, the actress thanked those in the firing line against COVID-19. The celebrity also made a humorous reference to her “Melrose Place” character, Amanda Woodward.
JOKING ABOUT HER ROOTS
She joked about the ‘90s coming back while pointing at her dark roots. The star added: “Amanda Woodward’s roots are alive and well and I think we should embrace it ladies and a few men.”
