One morning, there was a man sitting by the bench alone when a well-dressed woman walked up to him and said, "Good morning."

The man looked up to her and asked her to leave him alone. But she was not to be shooed away. Determined, the woman asked if he was hungry.

The man replied with sarcasm, "No. I've just come from dining with the President. Now go away." At that point, a police officer turned up and asked them about the situation.

The woman told the officer that she wanted to help the man sitting on the bench. The police officer replied that the man has been around the place for several years.

The police officer then asked about the woman's intentions. She pointed to the cafeteria over there and said that she would like to get him something to eat and also get him out of the cold for a while.

The man on the bench grumbled and disagreed to go with her. But the police officer grabbed him so he would stand and walk with the woman going to the cafeteria.

When they finally reached the cafeteria, the store manager asked why a ragged man was brought in his place. The police officer told the cafeteria manager that the woman wanted to feed the man.

But the cafeteria manager was upset, telling them that having a homeless person in the cafeteria is bad for business. Smiling, the woman turned to the manager and asked if he was familiar with Eddy and Associates, a banking firm down the street.

He said he knew of the firm, adding that they would hold their weekly meetings in one of the cafeteria's banquet rooms. The woman asked if he makes a lot of money from those meetings.

Curious, the store manager asked about the woman's business. The woman's reply shocked the manager: "I, sir, am Penelope Eddy, president and CEO of the company."

The manager immediately took their orders. Across the table, she then asked the man, "Jack, do you remember me?"

Old Jack looked at the woman and told her she was familiar. The woman revealed that in the past, she experienced the same situation as he had.

She shared that she walked the streets for days. One day in February, she felt so cold and was starving. She saw the cafeteria and walked in, hoping she could get something to eat.

Jack smiled and finally remembered her. He said that he was behind the serving counter when she came up and asked if you could work for something to eat.

Penelope told him that she worked her way up and started her own business that later turned out to be successful. She offered Jack a job and a place to stay until he could bounce back to life.

Jack couldn't help but feel thankful for Penelope. "Don't thank me. To God goes the glory. Thank Jesus. He led me to you," she said. Outside the cafeteria, Penelope thanked the police officer. He was touched by her generosity.

"Thank you. I saw a miracle today, something that I will never forget. And... And thank you for the coffee," the police officer said.

Being kind goes a long way. Like Penelope, Prince William offered help to a homeless man, paying for a new prosthetic limb for the man after he lost it.
