Salma Hayek, 53, Shows off Her Natural Gray Hair in a Photo
Actress Salma Hayek embraces her natural beauty, and not just by going makeup-free, but also by being “proud” of her gray roots - which she showed off in a beautiful selfie.
At the age of 53, the “Ugly Betty” alum sees her beauty in a new light. In fact, looking back at herself during her 30s and 40s, Salma has a new appreciation for the way she looked then and now.

BEING PROUD
On Sunday, the foxy actress took to social media to share just how much she’d come to embrace the process of aging. Alongside a close-up of her face, Salma simply wrote, “Be proud of your roots #hair #siverfox #roots.”
The picture shows Salma’s hand running through strands of gray hair peeking out from her roots, but it didn’t stop her from giving the camera a smoldering look.
SHE BECAME LESS SELF-CRITICAL
Not nearly as critical of her appearance as she used to be, the actress told PEOPLE that her outlook on her personal beauty changed and elaborated:
"Now when I look in the mirror and there are things that I don’t see, I think about how much I’m going to like me in 10 years.”
Ditching makeup amid this time in self-isolation due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, Salma shows off her natural beauty with no hesitation. Without feeling the “pressure” to look her best, the actress relishes the “sense of just being present” that it brings.
SHE STARTED WEARING MAKEUP YOUNG
Makeup became a regular part of Salma’s life since she was 14-years-old, even if her parents didn’t allow it at that age.
Finding a way around that, she instead applied just enough mascara to her lashes to make a difference while sheer non-glitter lipsticks did the rest.
Last year, the 53-year-old also showed the extent she would go through cosmetically to accurately portray her role in the upcoming film “The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard,” set for release this year.
SHE GOES ALL-IN
In close-up Salma posted of her upper chest and face area, her followers could clearly see the “secret tattoo” of a bird on her left breast for her role as Sonia Kincaid in the new film.
For her role in the television series "Like A Boss," Salma Hayek also went to great extents to fully immerse herself in the over-the-top character of an ambitious businesswoman.
Since she had to steer away from any permanent adjustments to her face, Salma eventually settled on a mouthpiece that pouted out her lips when she couldn't go through with her original choice to have lip fillers done.
Either way, she got the job done with oversized fake teeth and a wardrobe to match the flamboyant nature of her character.
