The photo Debbie posted featured her and Vivian in an adorable pose. Standing back to back, while holding each other's hands, they were the poster pair for an unbreakable mother-daughter bond.

Both mother and daughter were sporting voluminous, bouncy brown curls, dressed in matching white outfits and most importantly, wearing the most vibrant smiles that depicted an undeniable joy.

Debbie Allen has been on the list of names called out when a gamechanger is needed. Debbie had begun by thriving in the film industry's acclaimed "Hollywood Boys' Club," and by busting every door that stood in her way because of gender.

Debbie Allen's amazing talents and work caught the attention of many people, including the President.

What remained even more inspiring about Debbie was that she never did these things alone. She always carried with her the diverse voices of people of color throughout her career.

Shonda Rhimes who many people credit for bringing people of color on television to tell their stories, once said:

"No, Debbie Allen did. She put people of color on television and displayed them in ways that they hadn't seen before..."

Shonda added that Debbie had always given opportunities to people who had never gotten one before, all the while doing it away from the cameras and the tabloids.

Debbie's amazing work had caught the attention of many, but perhaps, the most exhilarating fan of her work and zeal was the 44th POTUS himself.

In July 2014, in Shonda Rhime's Los Angeles home, former President Barack Obama gave her praise for her talents. They were at a fundraiser for the President, and he had taken the stage to inspire actors, producers, writers, and donors in attendance.

After his speech, he ended with his signature, "God Bless You. God Bless America." But before he left the stage, he returned to say God bless Debbie Allen.

Debbie and Vivian own Debbie Allen Dance Academy, in which they teach kids and moms how to dance and get fit.

Debbie and her husband, Norm Nixon, have been married for almost four decades. They have a happy family and live a happy life with their three children
