Prince William and Prince Harry Unite for Unveiling of Diana Statue
Despite rumors of a sibling feud between Prince William and his younger brother Prince Harry, the pair came together to reveal how they would pay tribute to their late mother.
In 2017, a statue for the late Princess Diana was commissioned to mark the 20th anniversary of her death. The statue was meant to "recognise her positive impact."
Monday, August 31, 2020, marks 23 years since her death. The People’s Princess passed away in a car crash in Paris after being chased by paparazzi.

A STATUE FOR DIANA
Last Friday, Kensington Royal issued a statement on behalf of siblings Prince William, 38, and Prince Harry, 35. The statement revealed that the statue would finally go up on what would have been Diana’s 60th birthday.
On July 1, 2021, their mother’s statue will be placed in the garden of the London palace. The sculpture took so long to be installed due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease.

THE UNVEILING OF THE STATUE
However, despite the delay, the statue is set to be unveiled in the Sunken Garden next year. The artwork was done by artist Ian Rank-Broadley.
Rank-Broadley is the same artist who did the Queen’s portrait; which now appears on UK coins since 1998. Diana passed away on August 31, 1997, when William was 15 and Harry was 12.
FIRST JOINT STATEMENT
The joint statement by the two brothers is the first time they’ve spoken up publicly together since Harry and moved from the UK. This year, Harry and his wife, Duchess Meghan moved into their new home in Santa Barbara, California.
In January 2020, the pair announced they were stepping down as senior royals before moving to Canada for a few months. They then relocated again to the US where they recently bought a $14.7 million home in Montecito.
ALLEGED RIFT BETWEEN SIBLINGS
The alleged rift between Harry and William began after the younger royal’s 2018 marriage. Ever since the pair have never seemed to get along like before.
MEMORIALS FOR DIANA
Since her passing, many memorials have been created to honor the Princess of Wales. At Kensington Palace there’s the Diana Memorial Playground, at Hype Park there’s the Diana Memorial Fountain and St James's Palace boasts the Diana Memorial Walk.
A GARDEN FOR DIANA
On the 20th anniversary of her death, Kensington Palace also planted the White Garden as a memorial to the late royal. The late royal’s family is clearly making sure her memory lives on forever.
