Veteran actress Sheryl Lee Ralph recently celebrated her son's birthday with a stunning picture and a touching tribute that left many gushing.

Sheryl Lee Ralph's look-alike son Etienne recently turned 29, and the veteran actress was sure to celebrate him with a heartwarming tribute on social media.

Taking to Instagram, Ralph shared a photo of Etienne wearing a tuxedo while sitting on a black and gold chair with his legs crossed.

With his hands leaning against the armrests, Etienne stylishly held one hand against his head while striking a boss-like pose. Ralph accompanied the image with a sweet caption wishing Etienne a happy birthday. The proud mom continued and wrote:

"Keep digging! Keep making me proud!! It's your time. no weapon formed!!"

Ralph's sweet birthday post to her son was met with several reactions from fans and followers who took to the comments section to leave their thoughts.

Etienne's birthday came only a few days after the 7th anniversary of a robbery incident that left him hospitalized after being shot three times.

He shared the image alongside a quote from famous novelist James Baldwin. Etienne also added a note thanking people for celebrating him on his big day and concluded it by writing:

In 2013, Etienne opened up about the incident and noted that he had been drunk that night. This frightening experience, however, forced him to go sober, and he has been thriving ever since.

In addition to being a proud mom to Etienne and his sister Ivy, Ralph is also an accomplished actress with a career spanning over four decades.

While speaking about her love for acting in 2013, Ralph admitted that her favorite thing about acting was seeing great actors in great roles.

Her love for acting is perhaps why Ralph has continued to keep herself busy with movie roles. Currently, the actress is set to appear as a lead character in ABC's family restaurant drama "Harlem's Kitchen."
