Although these days the fashionista has channeled her philanthropic nature into a cancer awareness organization, she was once greatly disturbed by the ailment. In 2004, the mom-of-four was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer with a survival rate of 33 percent.

Simone underwent a 15-hour surgery and her husband and kids showed unwavering support. Following the successful surgery, the fashion influencer further endured a long period of rehabilitation.

Now a cancer survivor, the star threw herself into raising awareness and funds for those suffering from cancer. During one of her charity events, Simone teamed up with music star and business partner Mary J Blige to organize a pop-up event for survivors.

During her cancer recovery years, Simone's rapper spouse, whose real name is James Todd Smith, was by her side, making sure that she was fine.

Once speaking about the harrowing moments of his wife's illness, LL Cool J mentioned that abandoning her was not an option.

In the early times of their marriage, Simone was unhappy about some developments in her spouse's career because he was the hip hop sex symbol.
