Former Tennis Pro Maria Sharapova Engaged to Prince William & Harry's Friend Alexander Gilkes

Former Tennis Pro Maria Sharapova announced her engagement on Instagram to her boyfriend, Alexander Gilkes who is friends with both Prince William and Harry

Maria Sharapova and her boy Alexander Gilkes both shared on their respective Instagram accounts that they are engaged, sharing photos together alongside sweet and loving captions.

The couple confirmed that they were together in October 2018, however, the pair were first spotted together at LAX airport in January of the same year.

Sharapova's post included a black and white close-up of the couple, a pic of the couple's shadows stand next to each other, a video of their feet, and a video of Sharapova twirling while Gilkes is sitting on a bench.

Sharapova shared adorable photos and videos of the couple with a sweet caption that said she had said "yes" the day they had first met, the caption read,

"I said yes from the first day we met❤️This was our little secret, wasn’t it ??@gilkesa"

Gilkes is friends with Prince William and Harry as they all attend Eton together, which is a posh bordering school for elite British children. He is familiar with other royals, including Princess Beatrice and Eugenie, he attended Eugenie's wedding in 2018.

He was married to Meghan Markle's friend fashion designer Misha Nonoo The couple split up in 2016 and later in 2017 their divorce was finalized. Misha actually was the one who set Markle up on her first date with Prince Harry.

Sharapova had been banned from her sport as she had tested positive for a heart disease drug.

The 41-year-old, British Millionaire shared two photos to announce their engagement, a black and white photo of Maria kissing his cheek as well as a beautiful photo of her standing alone.

The caption alongside the two photos read that Sharapova had made him a happy boy, and was looking forward to learning from the tennis player for a lifetime, he wrote,

Thank you for making me a very very happy boy and saying yes. I look forward to a lifetime of loving you, and learning from you @mariasharapova #?

He is not the only one with a royal connect, his little brother Charlie was also rumored to have dated Pippa Middleton during their university days at Edinburgh University.

He is an art dealer and co-founder of an online auction house called Paddle8, which he founded in 2011. He is currently based in New York where his businesses are.

Sharapova had been banned from her sport as she had tested positive for a heart disease drug, meldonium as the 2016 Australian Open, she was exiled for 15 months.

The Russian tennis player saw much success during her career as she had won each of the sport's four Grand Slam titles. She is one of out of the 10 women who have ever achieved that sporting achievement.
