JOHN AMOS ON “GOOD TIMES”
John starred in the 70s sitcom “Good Times” for three seasons before his character, James Evans, was killed off unexpectedly. The actor revealed in a later interview that the showrunners killed off his character due to some differences in opinions.
Fans received another shock of a lifetime in 2019 when the actor returned to the series for the "Live in Front of the Studio Audience" reboot. However, rather than reprise his role as James, the actor played the snide Alderman Davis.
Notwithstanding the switch in characters, viewers were glad to relive the old times once again, with the icon among the cast. Barely a year later, John returned to another beloved movie.
This time reprising his role as Cleo McDowell in “Coming 2 America.” It appears age is only a number for John Amos, who continues to win hearts with some of the greatest television performances even at 81.
