Hugh Hefner's Widow Crystal Reveals How She Almost Died After Undergoing Fat Transfer Surgery
Hugh Hefner's widow Crystal Hefner has opened up about her near-death experience while undergoing fat transfer surgery. The 34-year-old model revealed that she lost a huge amount of blood during the procedure.
Crystal Hefner, the widow of the late Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, revealed she almost died while undergoing fat transfer surgery. She recounted her experience in a recent Instagram post. She wrote:
"I lost half the blood in my body and ended up in the hospital needing a blood transfusion."
The 34-year-old model revealed that she underwent the cosmetic procedure on October 16. She wrote about her harrowing experience alongside a picture of herself wrapped in support bandages.
Crystal, a former Playmate, stated that she has been slowly eating herself back to health. At the time of her posting, she said she was already feeling okay.
In a fat transfer procedure, fat is removed from one area in the body and grafted to another area. It also often involves fat cells being injected into a woman's breasts to augment their size.
In a statement she released after his death, she called her late husband an American hero and pioneer.
Crystal went on to reveal that she had already experienced a cosmetic-surgery-gone-wrong back in 2016. After falling ill, she had her implants removed. She wrote of the experience:
"I should have learned my lesson the first time..."
Crystal tied the knot with Hefner in 2012 after three years of dating. At the time, she was 26 and the Playboy publisher was 86. Prior to their wedding, she briefly called off their engagement.
They married in a romantic New Year's Eve ceremony. Crystal was Hefner's third wife. They were married for five years, up until his death in 2017 at the age of 91.

Hefner passed away on September 27, 2017, after contracting sepsis. Crystal became a widow at 31. In a statement she released after his death, she called her late husband an American hero and pioneer.
After three years, the model took another shot at love with engineer Nathan Levi. They were recently pictured in high spirits while having a romantic vacation in Mexico together.
