After Houston got engaged to Miya, many fans had been critical about it — they said she was too young for the 39-year-old. In an attempt to quash the controversy, he penned a lengthy Instagram post on June 17, 2020.
"Miya and I didn’t start dating until she was an adult. We fell in love and got engaged in March of 2019."
The actor also clarified that he did not meet her on the set of one of his films. They first met through a mutual friend in 2018 at a Jehovah’s Witness convention. She was not an adult back then.
Houston gushed about how his family and loved ones adore Miya before adding that none of the rumors about them were true. He assured his fans that his love for her was pure and devoid of any scandal.
Ending his lengthy caption with a thank you note to those who support him, Houston advised people should be more focused on more serious things like their health amid the pandemic rather than rumors.
Houston and Miya got engaged after five months of dating. They tied the knot on August 24, 2020, and judging by their sweet Instagram snaps, they are going strong.
