CMT's official Instagram page shared a clip of the powerful performance on Instagram. Underwood looked gorgeous with her long blonde in simple curls and her silver eye look, which added to the celestial look. CMT captioned the performance clip:
"I think we all will wanna remember @carrieunderwood & @NEEDTOBREATHE’s #CMTAwards performance ✨"
Fans online were quick to share their opinions of Underwood's performance on Twitter. The Bobby Bones show Twitter account wrote that she was a "goddess with powerhouse vocals."
Universal Nashville echoed the thoughts of many viewers, as the Twitter page tweeted that her performances always gave them "goosebumps," alongside a gif of Underwood rocking out during the performance.
After the performance, NEEDTOBREATHE took to Twitter to thank the CMT awards.
Another user thanked Underwood for the performance as they explained that they had experienced a couple of really horrible days and needed the performance as it cheered them up.
Of course, many other users praised Underwood and the band for their incredible performance. Another called her a true performer and was reminiscent about a concert she had gone to as she wrote:
"Seeing you perform live... in Bakersfield Ca. was definitely a night to remember my girls & I had a blast. You looked beautiful, as always."

Besides giving a stellar performance, Underwood took home the award for Video of the Year for her and John Legend's song "Hallelujah." This was the first CMT award for Legend.
The duo also scored a nomination for Video of the Year at the ACM Awards earlier this year. Underwood performed at the awards show and started with a beautiful acapella version of "Amazing Grace."
