Legendary actor Michael Douglas and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones were proud parents as they joined their 18-year-old daughter Cary for her high school graduation, but the actor experienced an awkward moment during the event.

During a virtual appearance on the "Kelly Clarkson Show," the 76-year-old movie star opened up on an embarrassing situation during Cary's big day where he was mistaken for her grandfather.

The Oscar winner confessed that the comments from other parents were a bit rough to hear, but he tried not to take it personally even though it was a bit uncomfortable to hear.

"The Kominsky Method" star explained that the parents had no malicious intent but were merely trying to be nice in congratulating him on his daughter's graduation.

During the virtual appearance, Douglas revealed that he and his family, including his 20-year-old son Dylan tried to observe COVID-19 restrictions and graced the event virtually.

The 76-year-old also opened up on life without his two children, who will now be moving out of the house in preparation for college. However, the actor confessed that it would be a bit tough to have the kids gone.

The iconic actor would prefer his children to exploit other career options to keep them from the pressure of stardom

Douglas explained that most of their conversations are centered around their kids, and with their kids gone, the actor joked that it would be difficult to have something to talk about with Zeta-Jones, his wife.

The veteran actor is undoubtedly a proud dad. On Cary's graduation, the father of two took to his Instagram to share a touching tribute to his 18-year-old daughter, revealing how proud he was of her.

The Ant-MAN actor and his wife love to show love to their children via his social media posts. For example, 51-year-old Zeta-Jones gushed over Cary in a sweet post she shared on her Instagram as Cary turned 18 in April.

The Oscar-winning actress has no doubt her children might follow the family tradition and end up having successful careers in Hollywood. The proud mom revealed that her kids have the talent to succeed in what they love, and she only wants to spur them on.

Zeta-Jones confessed that Douglas is not so keen on seeing his children follow in his steps to becoming actors. Instead, the iconic actor would prefer his children to exploit other career options to keep them from the pressure of stardom.

Douglas joins the list of renowned celebrities who became fathers in their old age, joining veterans like Charlie Chaplin, Pablo Picasso, and Robert DeNiro in the elite list.
