Timothy Mowry Is Dad to Tamera Mowry & 3 More Children with His Ex-wife

Actress and host Tamera Mowry has shared much of her life with the world. One person who remains a significant part of it is their father, Timothy Mowry. Timothy married Tamera's mother, Darlene Mowry, in his late teens.

The couple welcomed Tamera and her twin, Tia Mowry, in the late '70s before completing their family with sons Tavior and Tahj Mowry. They remained together for decades before going their separate ways in the mid-2010s.

Timothy Mowry: A Military Veteran

Timothy served in the army alongside his former spouse, Darlene. He was stationed in Germany, where he trained many soldiers who went to war, particularly in the Gulf War. Tia honored his service on Memorial Day in May 2018.

The actress shared an old photo of Timothy and Darlene smiling as they shook the hands of what appeared to be their superiors. Memorial Day seems to hold a special place in the hearts of the Mowrys. They spent it together in 2022, as Tahj and Tamera shared that May.

A few months later, on an episode of her Facebook Watch series, "Tia Mowry's Quick Fix," Tia spoke about her parents' sacrifices to get them to Hollywood. Timothy and Darlene had eloped when they were 18 and had Tia and Tamera when they were 21.

When the twins were two, the family relocated a few times before settling in Texas, where Tia and Tamera started doing commercials. However, Darlene realized that moving to Los Angeles might be necessary to secure more lucrative opportunities.

This meant she had to plead a case to leave the army. She was granted the exit, but it came at a cost. The military only allowed Darlene to go, but Timothy had to stay in Texas, after which he was transferred back to Germany for two years.

Timothy Mowry Divorced and Found New Love

Timothy's daughter, Tamera, revealed in 2019 that her parents had divorced after forty years of marriage. The "Sister Sister" star confessed it was difficult for her to accept, but her parents moved on to new people.

Although her mother was more private about her romantic life, Tamera said she had met her dad's girlfriend at the time, and they got along well. But apart from romance, Timothy also made time to bond with his children.

In June 2021, he appeared on "Tia Mowry's Quick Fix" to make his "famous" spaghetti and meatballs. He returned to the show in July 2022, where he and Tia prepared for a backyard barbecue.

Timothy Mowry: A Loving Father and Granddad

On Father's Day in June 2023, Tia posted a slideshow of clips and photos of Timothy's most precious moments as a father and grandfather. She thanked the patriarch for teaching her love, strength, and resilience and being her "guiding light."

Later in September, the TV star shared another loving tribute, thanking Timothy for the values he continues to instill, including teaching her how to be a supportive parent. Tia is a mom of two to Cairo Hardrict and Cree Hardrict with her former husband, Cory Hardrict.

Tamera is also a mom of two to Aden and Ariah Housely with her husband, Adam Housley. It's unknown if Tahj and Tavior have children, but the brothers show each other love online. In May 2023, Tavior wished Tahj a happy birthday, calling his brother his "role model."
