In Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a mother and son had what they believed will be his last dance. In August, the mother shared what she called "the hardest thing" she ever had to do.

THE UNEXPECTED DIAGNOSIS
The 13-year-old's diagnosis came as a shock to the family. The mother explained that most parents receive this news upon birth. The youngster still managed to find reasons to smile despite his life-changing circumstances.
Anderson had her son when she was 16 years old, and the two of them grew a close bond throughout their years together. She describes her beloved son as "caring, independent, smart, compassionate, funny, and gentle."
HIS LAST WISH
After doctors shared that Adrean only had months to live, he compiled a bucket list with everything he still wanted to do. While it had a few of the expected activities, such as visiting Disney World, there was an extra special request on his list.
Adrean wanted to have a final dance with his mom. The mother and son duo could be seen in a viral video with millions of views as they hugged and danced together.
VIRAL VIDEO
The private moment was posted online because Adrean asked his mother to share it. She sat him down to explain what the doctors had said.
During their honest conversation, he asked her if they could make memories before he passed away. Anderson said: “He asked if we can have one last mother and son dance to our favorite song."
THEIR SPECIAL DANCE
While they danced, the youngster held onto his mother and looked lovingly into her eyes. He told her that he knew this would be their final dance together.
Anderson expressed:
“He became so overwhelmed with emotion, he cried…he said momma I know in my heart that this is our last dance and I want you to be ok when I leave, please be ok momma.”

NO LONGER ON MEDICATION
Before his new semester at school began, Adrean spoke candidly with his parents. He told them he wanted to stop taking his medication to feel like "a normal kid" again.
Anderson shared: "He’s been off the medication, and he’s been happier, it’s like he’s his old self again." The mother wanted everyone to see how special her son is, and from the supportive and loving reactions online, people recognized this.
