Octavia Spencer Apologizes to Britney Spears and Sam Asghari for Prenup Joke

Octavia Spencer has come to public to apologize for making a joke right after Britney Spears and longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari announced that they were engaged.

The Oscar-winner took to her official Instagram page to address the situation, saying she didn't mean to cause any pain when she joked that Spears should get a prenuptial agreement.

According to Spencer, she was just being her funny self and only wanted to make them laugh, which was why she also reached out to them in private to apologize.

MAKING AMENDS

Spencer, who has starred in films such as "Ma," "The Shape of Water" and "Hidden Figures," added that she wanted to restore "just a smidge of happiness they were robbed of."

Asghari proposed to his other half by presenting her with a diamond ring.

NO HARD FEELINGS

The actress also said that the pop singer's fans have already seen her through a lot of pain and now that she has found happiness, everyone is "thrilled" for her.

Despite the heartfelt apology, Asghari reacted to Spencer's Instagram post by saying she was very kind for clarifying her position but that there are no hard feelings between them.

The 27-year-old wrote that "jokes and misconceptions come with the territory," ending his message with 3 emojis - praying hands, a 100, and a heart.

Following news of the engagement, talks of a prenup filled the internet, but Asghari didn't take them to heart and even took the opportunity to show his funny side by saying:

“Thank you for your concern about the prenup! Of course, we’re getting iron-clad prenup to protect my Jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day.”

5 YEARS TOGETHER

Spears and Asghari have been dating since 2016, with the actor serving as her rock through some troubled times, mostly due to all the drama involving her father, Jamie Spears, and her conservatorship.

It has been reported that Spears is allowed to tie the knot while under a conservatorship unless a judge determines that she is in no condition to do so.

Asghari, who is an actor as well as a personal trainer, proposed to his girlfriend by presenting her with a diamond ring designed by famous New York City jeweler Roman Malayev.

According to the Iran-native, he just wishes to make her happy, which directly contributes to his own happiness, bringing back the old "happy wife, happy life" saying.
