Elton John Reveals He Injured His Hip and Will Have to Undergo Surgery
Sir Elton John recently went public to deliver heartbreaking news to fans who have been anxiously waiting to see him perform during his "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour.
According to the 74-year-old legend, at the end of his summer break, he fell quite awkwardly on a hard surface, which caused him to be in "considerable pain" ever since.
John explained that his hip was hurt by the fall, being in constant discomfort, and even though he underwent intensive physiotherapy and sought specialist treatment, the pain just got worse.

TROUBLE MOVING AROUND
The singer is currently in so much pain that he's starting to experience increased difficulty in mobility and was advised by his doctors to undergo surgery "as soon as possible."
[John] promised that the shows will return to the road next year.
The "Rocketman" alum said that the operation will ensure that he goes back to full fitness and won't suffer any long-term complications, adding that he will also undergo physiotherapy following the procedure.
This has forced John to reschedule all 2021 dates of his tour in Europe and the United Kingdom to 2023. However, he will still be performing at the Global Citizen Live event.

A MAN OF HIS WORD
The singer is expected to step on stage in Paris, France, on September 25. According to him, even though he's scheduled for surgery, he doesn't wish to let a charity down. He added:
"Being five songs it's a very different physical undertaking to the demands of playing for close to three hours every night on tour and traveling overnight between countries."
THE BEST FANS
John shared that he will be operated on after the event to ensure that he is able to get back on the road by January 2022 in New Orleans. He also praised his fans for their patience in the released statement:
"I know how patient my incredible fans have been since COVID halted touring last year, and it breaks my heart to keep you waiting any longer."
According to the 74-year-old, he feels their frustration, especially after last year, but promised that the shows will return to the road next year and that he will make sure they will be "more than worth the wait."
Recently, John teamed up with Lil Nas X in the ad campaign for Uber Eats, "Tonight I'll Be Eating," and the two seem to have grown close, so much that John called him "one of the most influential voices in pop culture."
