Nicole Kidman Reflects on Being Too Candid about Marriage to Tom Cruise
Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise were one of the hottest and most famous couples back in the 90s, but nowadays they rarely speak about the time they spent together.
The two Hollywood stars tied the knot in 1990 and called it quits in 2001. However, during their marriage, their relationship was constantly being scrutinized by the media.
Recently, during an interview with Harper's Bazaar, Kidman opened up about why she allowed the media frenzy surrounding her marriage to take over.

TOO PERMISSIVE
According to her, she was very young at the time and admits that she may have "offered it up" by letting so much of their relationship be exposed to the public eye.
The 54-year-old, who shares son Connor and daughter Isabella with the "Mission Impossible" star, says she has gotten "a bit more trepidatious" as the years went by.

However, Kidman claims she is always trying to be as open as possible because that is simply the way she prefers to live in the world. She added:
"I'm wary at times, and I've been hurt, but at the same time I much prefer a warm approach rather than a prickly shutdown approach."

TOGETHER ON AND OFF THE SCREEN
During an interview with the New York Times, Kidman, who currently stars in Hulu's "Nine Perfect Strangers," was asked if the 1999 film "Eyes Wide Shut" had any negative impact on her marriage to Cruise.
There are several real-life couples who have played roles where their characters are married to each other.
In the movie, Kidman and Cruise played a married couple who struggle with infidelity, and the fact that the main stars were married to each other could have brought some doubts into the relationship.
However, Kidman said that, after filming, they would rent out a place and go go-kart racing at 3 in the morning, and that she maybe doesn't have the ability or the willingness to look back and analyze those memories.

REAL-LIFE COUPLES
While it is unclear whether the film negatively affected their relationship, the truth is that there are several real-life couples who have played roles where their characters are married to each other.
John Krasinski and Emily Blunt worked side by side in "A Quiet Place" and "A Quiet Place 2," like Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard in "CHIPS," while Brad Pitt and Angelina Joline starred together in "Mr. & Mrs. Smith."
