Debbie Allen's Granddaughter Aviah Is Her Carbon Copy in Photos with the Actress' Husband of 36 Years Norm Nixon

Living legend Debbie Allen just recently celebrated her granddaughter's first birthday, and the little girl is the spitting image of her grandmother.

It is a far cry from the old narrative that grandmothers sat at home all day knitting and watching their grandkids. Today, grandmothers are active, vibrant, and doing things that they would often not be known to do.

One such grandmother is the singer and actress Debbie Allen, who wears many hats. The 71-year-old is a director, producer, world-class dancer, choreographer, and award-winning actress.

Besides having so many accolades to her name, Allen takes pride in being a grandmother of two, and she recently celebrated her youngest granddaughter's first birthday.

The "Grey's Anatomy" star posted a photo of her look-alike granddaughter, Aviah, as she celebrated the one-year mark. The little girl and her elder sister sat on their grandfather's lap.

On the caption accompanying the photo, the actress alluded to the celebration as the happiest first birthday in the family, then ended the post with a sweet tribute to the little girl saying: "We love you, Aviah!"

BECOMING A GRANDMOTHER

The "Blank Check" actress was ecstatic about being a mother of three, but becoming a grandmother trumped all that. During a sit-down with Closer Weekly, the star gushed over her granddaughter, Shiloh Elizabeth Williams.

The star shared how exciting becoming a first-time grandmother was, saying she enjoyed it a lot. She opened up about it, saying:

"I love it! I'm enjoying it. I can't wait to get back to her. She is everything!"

She says that spending time with her granddaughter was one of the highlights of her day. She opened up about how she and her husband were in love with Shiloh and tried to maintain her peace while spending time with her.

CELEBRATING HER 36TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

The "Next Day Air" actress also celebrated a milestone in her life. Married to her husband, former NBA player Norm Nixon for decades, the lovebirds celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary in December 2020.

On their big day, Allen shared a throwback clip of herself and her husband as they danced along to beautiful music at their all-white party in 2016. She captioned the post writing:

"Happy Anniversary to the love of my life, Norm. So thankful to have you as my forever dance partner. Thirty-six years and counting, baby!"

The "Christmas on the Square" star and her husband wed back in 1984 and share three children, Norman, Vivian, and Norman Nixon Jr.
