Serkis recently attended the premiere for "The Batman," which stars "Twilight" actor Robert Pattison. In the film, Serkis plays Batman's butler, Alfred Pennyworth.
The accomplished actor shared that the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted shooting, so he was halfway through filming his part when production shut down. He admitted he was curious to see how the film would turn out:
"So it will be interesting to see when that resurfaces how it has been affected by it [lockdown]. But it is, it's going to be a beautiful film."
According to his Instagram, Serkis attended the premiere this month with his wife, Lorraine Ashbourne, and his youngest son. "The Planet of the Ape" star is not the only member of his family in the limelight as Ashbourne is an accomplished actress with credits in various TV shows and movies.
Ashbourne is also known for her stage work as she often appeared at the Royal Exchange Theater in Manchester. Her roles included Kate Hardcastle in "She Stoops to Conquer" and "Othello," portraying Emilia, the wife of Iago, who Serkis played.
Although Ashbourne has starred in a few movies, including "Fever Pitch" and "The Martins," the English actress is most known for her roles on TV and is a staple in British television.
A few of her TV credits include "Cheat" as Angela Shadely, "Unforgotten" as DI Tessa Nixon, "Jane Eyre" as Mrs. Fairfax, "Playing the Field" as Geraldine Powell, "The Interceptor" as Valerie.
One of Ashbourne's most recent and exciting roles was as Mrs. Varley, the Featherton's housekeeper in Netflix's "Bridgerton," based on the Julia Quinn novels.
"The Crown" actress and "King Kong" actor got married in 2002 and welcomed three children, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis, 24, Sonny Ashbourne Serkis, 22, and Louis George Serkis, 17.
The Ashbourne Serkis siblings all act professionally. Ruby appeared with her father in Netflix's "The Letter For The King." While talking about the series, Ruby said, "it is quite odd having my dad play my dad."
Sonny appeared in dramas such as "The White Queen, "La Cha Cha," alongside his sister, and "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey." His father shared on Instagram that he and Ashbourne went to the world premiere of "La Cha Cha" in September 2021.
Louis also has a few credits to his name, including "Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle," "The Current War," and "The Kid Who Would Be King." During an interview with ET, Louis explained his father offered some helpful advice; don't look at the camera.
