Music star Ed Sheeran surprised his Instagram followers and the world by announcing the birth of his second child, but nobody knew his wife was expecting a baby.

On May 19, 2022, English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran took to Instagram to reveal that he and his wife, Cherry Seaborn, had welcomed their second kid.

HOW DID ED SHEERAN AND CHERRY SEABORN MEET?

Although Sheeran and Seaborn prefer to keep most details of their family life away from the spotlight, they have shared some aspects of their love story with the press.

They met as kids at Thomas Mills High School in Suffolk, England, but nothing romantic happened then, even though he supposedly had a crush on her. They reconnected in New York (where she lived) in 2015 through a mutual friend who worked on Sheeran's tour.

Sheeran and Seaborn hit it off right away and have been together since then. The music star revealed Seaborn has been influential in his music career and inspired one of his most famous songs: "Perfect."

However, he couldn't see her first reaction to the tune in the flesh because they were miles apart. Sheeran emailed it, and she loved it.

In January 2018, Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn announced their engagement, and they tied the knot in January 2019. Sheeran said they held a small ceremony with "basically no one there." He added:

"We did it at night on a random day in the middle of January in the middle of nowhere. No one knew, no one came to it. We lit candles, we got married, we went back [and] had a curry."

A few months after the wedding, Sheeran and Seaborn gathered their friends and threw a party to celebrate their union. And in August 2020, they welcomed their first child, Lyra Antarctica.

WHO IS CHERRY SEABORN?

Ed Sheeran's wife might not be as famous as her husband, but she is just as talented. While studying science at Durham University, she was a field hockey star and won the British Universities and Colleges Sports championships in 2012 and 2013.

Cherry Seaborn graduated from Durham in 2013 and moved to the States to study a master's in management studies at Duke University, where she played Division I field hockey.

Upon graduation, she worked for the accounting firm Deloitte on Wall Street. When she and Sheeran began dating, she got transferred to the firm's London office. Sheeran has also made sacrifices for their romance: he took a break from music to strengthen their relationship.
