Since she shot to fame after her role as Rachel on "Friends," Jennifer Aniston has been under public scrutiny. One of the many things that fans have criticized the actress for is not bringing children into the world.
She has never spoken about why she decided to choose her career over starting a family after her divorce from Brad Pitt. However, recently she opened up about why she prefers to keep her time for her job.

Brad Pitt and Aniston were married for four years and shocked the world when they announced their divorce. Speculation about the reasons for the divorce immediately began. Some thought it was because of Pitt's friendship with Angelina Jolie.
However, others believed Aniston and Pitt had different views on the perfect time to have children. Sources said that Pitt, 41 at the time, was ready to start a family. However, then-35-year-old Aniston wanted to delay having children to focus on her career.
While they did have different opinions on the perfect time to start a family, Aniston and Pitt also had Jolie in the mix. After Aniston and Pitt's divorce, he began a relationship with Jolie, and the pair married nine years later.

After marrying Jolie, Pitt welcomed six children with the actress, and Aniston remained single and childless while her career thrived. Jolie and Pitt's relationship has also broken up, and Pitt is dating again.
Why Was Aniston's Life "Hurtful," "Toxic," and "Nasty" for Years?
After her divorce from Pitt, Aniston faced an onslaught of speculation from the media. She mentioned that what the tabloids were saying was "toxic" to her, and she dealt with it by not reading any of it.

However, the rumors about why she did not have kids got to her more than any others. Talking about how she felt about them, Aniston said:
"You have no clue what's going on with me personally, medically, why I can't… can I have kids? They don't know anything, and it was really hurtful and just nasty."
Aniston admitted that there was a general feeling in the public that she was selfish and only cared about her career, which is why Brad Pitt ultimately left her for Jolie. Yet she clarified that this was not true.

While the rumors hurt Aniston, she had to rise above them and defend herself against them many times. In an interview, she talked about them and said:
"It was absolute lies. I don't have anything to hide at this point."

In the same interview, Aniston spoke for the first time ever about why she does not have children. She spoke candidly about her struggle to fall pregnant and what it meant to her not to be able to bear a child.

Aniston mentioned that in her late 30s and early 40s, she was going through a tough time but was grateful for it because it helped turn her into the person she is today. A stronger version of herself emerged from the struggle she faced.
When asked to clarify what she meant, Aniston revealed that she had been trying to have a baby during that time but was unsuccessful, and it was made more difficult by the tabloids watching her every move. She said:
"All the years and years and years of speculation... It was really hard."

Now 53, Aniston felt ready to open up about her struggles. She said she went through several rounds of IVF, tried herbal remedies, and did everything else that could help her fall pregnant, but none worked.
Aniston recalled wishing someone had told her to freeze her eggs when she was younger, but she hadn't thought about it and did not have that option available to her when she was finally ready to have children.
She also confessed that nobody knew what she was going through but knew that she could share it now because she would not be trying for children again. She said:
"The ship has sailed."
The actress then said that even though she didn't get to have children, she feels relieved that at age 53, there is no more possibility for her to fall pregnant because she doesn't have to wonder about it working out for her anymore.
