American boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard and his wife Bernadette Robi have been married for 29 years. The couple first met at a Luther Vandross concert, and Robi said she was stunned by Leonard's looks.

As much as Robi found the boxer attractive, she had to find out about his marital status before anything went further. It turned out Leonard was legally separated from his first wife, Juanita Wilkinson.

Saxophonist Kelly G was the one who introduced them, but things did not start on a good note because Robi confessed that Leonard stood her up three times.

But he was persistent about making it up to her, so she eventually caved, and the two fell in love. Leonard was at the peak of his career when the pair started dating, so his schedule was packed, but Robi did not mind; she loved how gentle and down-to-earth he was.

Robi and Leonard tied the knot in 1993 at their California home. For their grand ceremony, they transformed their house into a 10,000-rose garden with various flowers flown from Holland.

The 250-guest wedding had the couple's closest friends and family. After they said their vows and were pronounced husband and wife, a plane flew over them with a banner that read, "I love you, Bernadette."

To seal it off, Robi and Leornard had the famous acapella band, Take 6 sing "Bless this House" as an honor and tribute to their new life as husband and wife.

From the sound of things, the wedding was not cheap; when Leonard was asked how much everything cost, he said he stopped counting at a quarter of a million. But for the boxer, it was more about happiness than money.

In a chilling account of his memoir, Leonard opened up about his abuse and how he survived alcohol and drug addiction. He confessed that his wife was concerned about him revealing these details to the world, but to him, it felt freeing to have it out there.

If there is one thing Leonard loves about being a grandfather, it's being called grandpa and spoiling his grandchildren rotten. He even confessed that he always gave them more candy despite their parent's disapproval.

The boxing legend said his grandchildren fill a void and bring the utmost joy to his life. He sees them as his own kids and said he could not help but spoil them every chance he gets.

Leonard is constantly sharing adorable pictures of him playing with his grandchildren and celebrating their milestones. He loves being around them, which is evident because he always has the biggest smile when photographed with them.

The boxing legend also said there was "nothing better" than spending time with his grandkids, especially now that he is a grandfather of six. He and his wife are now "empty nesters," and as much as he is proud to have all kids out of the house, he admitted that the big house they had was starting to feel lonely.

Therefore, Leonard and Robi decided to downsize their house and lead a simpler life, but the boxer said he missed his full house with kids fighting and yelling.
