Matt Damon & Wife Made It to 17 Years — Their Romance Started When She Helped Him Hide from Fans
Matt Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso show that perfect romances are not restricted to telenovelas or romance novels. These two who found love in an unlikely place celebrate their seventeenth anniversary today, following a fairy tale romance and four kids.
Matt Damon and his beloved Argentinean wife, Luciana Barroso, aka Lucy Damon, are one of Hollywood's power couples. They turn heads with their chemistry on the red carpets, but what is more inspiring are their years together.
This attractive couple has managed their fairytale romance and family life for nearly two decades. They have not headlined controversial news, making it safe to assume genuine love is not an onscreen myth.

Today, the celebrity couple marked their seventeen years of marriage. Although Lucy prefers a relatively low-key lifestyle, her husband does not mind sharing details about their romance, and in the past, he has celebrated their anniversary with sweet posts.
What appears to be heaven's blessings began with a rather unlikely story. The actor met his wife in 2003 while filming "Stuck on You." He had traveled to Miami for the movie production and, on that day, was forced to visit a bar nearby.

After a few minutes in the vicinity, fans recognized him and pleaded for autographs and pictures. Matt was soon overwhelmed by the fandom because it became aggressive (people had been drinking), so he tried to hide behind the bar, and luckily, the bartender was Lucy!
Matt's version was that there was a noticeable light on the Argentinean native when he first saw her, but she claimed they were in a nightclub with many lights.
Despite the uniqueness and humor in their first meeting stories, Lucy commended the actor for being amiable. He initiated a light conversation and went ahead to buy drinks, fetching her some money. During her interview with Vogue, per Cosmopolitan, she added:
"He made me a ton of money in tips that night because, of course, everyone wanted to go and see him. So it turned into a really fun night, and then 15 years later, here we are!"
Matt and Lucy Damon's History after Their First Night
"The Last Duel" star has been stuck on his wife since their first meeting. Even though Lucy was a single parent at the time, as she shared a daughter with a former partner, Arbello Barroso, he remained interested in her.

Two years later, the duo shared their vows in a casual civil ceremony at Manhattan Marriage Bureau. Next was a ceremony with their family and celeb friends in attendance.
One way he manages to juggle both seamlessly is by establishing rules. The Damons uphold a two-week tradition which means they are not apart for more than two weeks.
The couple was not only bound by words but by their wedding bands which hold significant meanings. Matt confessed that their rings have three invisible diamonds inherited from his grandmother, who gave them to his mother.

In sharing his thoughts about the family ring, he explained that the diamonds — six in number — were shared into equal halves and placed in both rings. In his words:
"They were married for over 60 years. It wasn't about the ring; it was about the marriage. We took three of them, and we put them on the inside of my band, and then we took three, and we put them on the inside of her band. So they're not visible, but we're hopefully carrying the best part of that union with us."
Shortly after their marriage, "The Bourne Identity" star gained another identity; he became a father for the first time. Matt adopted his wife's daughter, Alexia.
In June 2006, the couple welcomed their first biological daughter, Isabella. Baby number two, Gia Zavala, joined the family in August 2008. Finally, in 2010, the couple's youngest daughter, Stella, arrived.
Although Matt thinks parenting is fun and gushes about being surrounded by so many women, the actor is conscious of the value he instills in his girls. When asked about what he does with the gifts sent to his home, he revealed:
"When people send stuff to my kids, my kids have everything they need, so we pass it right on. This is the life we're giving them. It's hard to figure out how to try to give them perspective. It's a source of tension in the family at times."
Additionally, "The Martian" star, who once admitted fatherhood had taught him so much, including loving his daughters endlessly, proves that he can handle the job, despite his successful career.

Even though fatherhood and career may be demanding, "The Departed" star and his beloved wife have ways to ignite the sparks in their romance.
Matt and Lucy Damon's Marriage Today
While Mart never loves being away from his family for long, he and Lucy always find ways to keep their kids happy— constantly refreshing their to-do list, including beach outings.
But another critical focus for the couple is their romantic lifestyle. The "Stuck on You" star recalled that finding his wife was a miracle. He had not expected it, especially since his brother married at 26.

Matt was in awe of his brother's marriage and concluded he did not witness the same until he met Lucy—with whom he created an unplanned love story.
Last year, he gave up one secret to their ever-green love life. "I think you need to be with the person you love as much as possible. My wife is my soulmate. I don't like being apart from her," he stated.

This was not the first time the Hollywood star would web a conversation around his low-profile lifestyle wife. In a former interview, Matt praised his other half for her contributions to their marriage, adding that she deserved the best. He said:
"I wish I were better because my wife deserves somebody who surprises her with a gift or flowers or some wonderful idea... I've never been good at that, and she's really good at it."
Amid this confession, Matt shows that he is the yin to Lucy's yang. The celeb couple complements each other in many awe-inspiring ways.
They work as a team to raise their kids and follow set rules to keep their family together and romance alive—so far, their formulas have worked, and they have enjoyed seventeen years of marital bliss.
