Jimmie Walker Has No Wife & Children as He Continues to Dedicate His Life to His Career
In 2022, comedy fans wanted to know who Jimmie Walker's wife was and if the star was still alive. The lifelong bachelor is still performing stand-up deep into his seventies.
Jimmie Walker became iconic for his catchphrase "Dyn-o-mite!" in "Good Times," and will much rather give fans belly laughs 40 years later than talk about his love life.
The hundreds of photos his fans take with the "Let's Do It Again" star after his comedy gigs are enough to serve as proof of life and love for the iconic comedian.

How the Rumors About Jimmie Walker's "Wife" Started
In 1982, Walker and his friend Jere Fields made a striking appearance on the game show, "Tattletales," where three celebrity couples compete against each other. Since then, the funny pair have been linked in the minds of the public as a married couple.
The comedian formally debunked the rumor thirty years later in 2012. He confided in Wendy Williams on her show that he has never been married and does not have offspring. However, the star hinted that he had a few girlfriends over the years but clammed up after this revelation.

The "Good Times" star has also been linked to political commentator Ann Coulter. When asked about the supposed romance, she quipped that the stand-up started the rumor.
The commentator said that she and Walker were great friends and explained that they were each other's date but not dating. They enjoyed each other's company and often saw each other when she was in LA.
The platonic friends have attended the TV Land Awards together multiple times over the past few years, which Coulter calls "so fun."

The rumor was rehashed by an old friend and collaborator, Norman Lear, who created his hit sitcom "Good Times." During a 2017 interview with "Blackish" creator Kenya Barris, Lear revealed that he and his wife went on a double date with Walker and Coulter.
Barris was in disbelief about the news, but Lear insisted that he spent a whole evening sitting across from the lovebirds. Coulter reacted to the gossip in a concessive tweet on April 5, 2017: "Best of friends, love him, no romance."
A report of their "break-up" circulated when the comedian attended a Palm Bach polo match without her in 2018. Confused friends of the commentator clarified that she has never been in a romantic relationship with the "Airplane!" funnyman.

Jimmie Walker Has Made His Feelings about Marriage & Fatherhood Very Clear
Walker is not a father and a husband because he does not want to be a parent or a spouse. He made this very clear during an interview in 2018 when asked point blank why he had never gotten married in his seventy-plus years. He said:
"I just don't believe it works. The majority of my friends are divorced, hostile, and angry. They lost the house they worked their [expletive] off to get. I don't see the fun of it."
On the topic of children, he said that enough people have called him an "a**hole" and did not want the added burden of paying for the upkeep of someone who calls him that.

The comedian added he did not want to pay for a child to go to college only to turn around and accuse him of ruining their life. Walker appreciates loyalty, and while it is not something he sought or found in his personal life, he has the fortune to have it professionally. He was one of the first to hire David Letterman to write jokes.
Letterman had invited his former boss on his talk show many times and said he would continue to do so for as long as he had breath in his body. Walker says that this was the last time that he cried.
Fans Once Thought That Jimmie Walker Had Died
Over the past few years, the comedy world has lost many comedy greats like Betty White, Leslie Jordan, and Walker's "Good Times" co-star Johnny Brown. Fans feared that Walker had booked a residency at the great comedy club in the sky in 2022.
The love that the comedian got on his social post announcing he is not dead is just a tiny sample of the love that he gets on the road.
The stand-up took to Facebook in September 2022 with a screenshot of what looked like a Google search falsely proclaiming his death on the 23rd of that month. He confirmed that he was doing well and was not sure where the fake news originated and went on to promote his next gig.
The comment section was filled with well-wishing fans. David Rojahn, his former opening act, said he learned so much from the star during their drives to the comedy clubs and wished him well. Sheila Tavares posted, "Please stay well, Jimmie!" and said that he always made her laugh.
Much like how the story about Walker's wife was an accepted fallacy in fans' minds because of a TV show, social media commentator Ellis Richmond admitted to mistakenly believing that the comedian was dead because of an episode of "Everybody Hates Chris."
On the gossip from Lear about Coulter, some on Twitter seemed more surprised that the actor was still alive than potentially involved with a political observer.

Jimmie Walker Is Still Performing around the Country
The love that the comedian got on his social post announcing he is not dead is just a tiny sample of the love that he gets on the road. Walker spends five to six months on comedy tours annually and is currently booked into the middle of 2023.
The Bronx native proved to his family in his youth that one could make a living by telling jokes when he was booked at the famed Apollo Theater in Harlem.
His social media accounts are full of fans sharing their pleasant experience of meeting him at shows like the "Mid Atlantic Nostalgia Convention" and gigs with Steve Sweeney.
