Bodhi Soleil Reed Somerhalder Is 'The Most Spectacular Thing' for Her Parents

Bodhi's Name Is Meaningful

Although Reed and Somerhalder have never discussed why they gave their daughter the names Bodhi and Soleil, the words are not typical American names and have a deeper meaning. Bodhi is related to the spirit of enlightenment in Buddhist traditions.

Therefore, broadly speaking, the name refers to wisdom or awakening. The second name, Soleil, is a word derived from the French language, which means the sun. Hence, her two names may refer to the awakening of the sun, a fitting name for someone Reed described as "just the most spectacular thing."

Bodhi's Parents Got Married Soon after They Started Dating

It seems Reed and Somerhalder were in a hurry to become husband and wife as they got engaged just six months after they began dating and married four months after the engagement.
