Morgan Kay Beamer Followed in Her Father's Footsteps - Facts about Todd Beamer's Daughter
September 11, 2001, was a fateful day for Morgan Kay Beamer's family and the country. Her father, Todd Beamer, lost his life while trying to regain control of the aircraft from hijackers.
During the fight, the plane lost control and crashed, killing everyone on board. Unfortunately, Morgan didn't meet her heroic father, as she was born a few months after his death. Today, Morgan still carries her father's legacy and has followed in his footsteps.
Morgan's mother struggled with the sole burden of raising three children after her husband passed on in the plane crash. As a mother, she's proud of what her children have become.

Morgan's Name Has a Special Meaning for Her Family
Morgan was born in January, a few months after her father had died. Morgan's mother said her husband had predicted their third child would be a girl; after she delivered her baby, she said she felt like Todd watched everything that happened.
The mom of three then decided to name their daughter Morgan, after her father's middle name. Morgan's full name is a combination of her parents' names; her mother, Lisa Beamer, revealed in her novel "Let's Roll," that Morgan took after her father's dark hair.
Even though Morgan arrived home from the hospital with no father, Lisa tried her best to keep Morgan's father's memory alive through photos and memorabilia.

When she sat down with NBC News a week after the tragedy, she was calm and collected—surprising many people. Morgan's mother found the courage to raise her three children without their father, even though it wasn't easy.
In her novel, she wrote about life without her husband. Their eldest child Dave was already in second grade, and their middle child, Drew in kindergarten. Morgan has stated attending preschool occasionally, and there were days when she and her mother would hang out and play games and sports.
Morgan's mother completed writing her novel in 2002, a year after her husband had died. Lisa recalled spending late nights with Morgan while working on her book. In 2006, when she was working on her epilogue, Morgan was four.
