Paul Simon's children are a tangible example of his influence in the music industry, most evident in the fact that they followed his path. However, not all of them have displayed the same love he has for music.

Paul Simon is a Newark, New Jersey-born musician credited with pushing the boundaries of songwriting. He rose to fame alongside his school friend, Art Garfunkel. Together they formed the group, Simon & Garfunkel.

Paul's accomplished career has lasted more than six decades and is still active. His accolades include twelve Grammy Awards and two Brit Awards in the International Solo Artist and International Album of the Year categories.

Paul became a musician at 15 and grew up in the music industry. His vast experience is a valuable reference point for aspiring artists. The beginning was as glorious as the rest of his career, as he experienced hardships with his mate, Art, during their days as Simon & Garfunkel.

They put the group to rest until an opportunity for revival arose in 1966. They separated again in 1970, and Paul released three albums that dominated the Billboard 200 in the five years that followed their split. Despite seemingly clinching enormous success, Paul does not encourage people to pursue a music career.

A young girl at the Children's Health Fund Annual Benefit event hosted in 2014 told the songwriter that she aspired to be a musician or a veterinarian. He advised her not to take up music as a career, saying musicians do not make any money and she should become a veterinarian instead.

Paul created an environment of musical inspiration for his family. The constant music production in his home inspired most of his children to follow suit. No surprise that he was inducted into Time's "100 People Who Shaped the World" in 2006.

His third wife, Edie Brickell, is also a musician who is widely recognized for her 1988 debut album, "Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars," which peaked at number four on the Billboard Albums Chart. Her career started in 1985, and she has not slowed down since.

Harper Simon

Harper Simon, born Harper James Simon, is a musical all-rounder who was the only child from Paul's marriage with Peggy Harper. He was born on September 7, 1972, nearly three years into his parents' five-year marriage that began in 1970. There is not much information available to the public about his mother.

Harper has followed in his father's footsteps, who has set the bar extremely high. He became an instrumentalist at 12 when he learned how to play the guitar. Before moving to London and forming part of the rock band known as Menlo Park, Harper was a student at Berklee College of Music.

At age 34, Harper decided to record his first solo album, a self-titled LP recorded at producer Bob Johnston's studio in Nashville. Harper said his road to becoming a solo artist was "a journey of discovery." His father added finishing touches to the project in New York and Los Angeles.

Adrian Simon

After Paul's divorce in 1975, he remained unmarried for eight years before he exchanged vows with his second wife, Carrie Fisher, in 1983. They divorced in 1984, and this turned out to be Paul's shortest marriage to date. On May 30, 1992, Paul exchanged vows with his third wife, Edie Brickell.

They welcomed their first and Paul's second child, Adrian Simon, in December of the same year. Adrian is not recognized as a musician like the rest of his family. Some of his known musical endeavors include an appearance on Paul's 2006 album "Surprise" and a collaboration featured on one of Paul's tours.

Adrian is responsible for his father's collaboration with Italian producer Digi G'Alessio who performs electronic music under the alias Clap! Clap! Adrian, born three years before his only sister, Lulu Simon, suggested the Italian's music to his father.

Lulu Simon

Lulu was born in April 1995 and is Paul's third child and only daughter. She is also a musician and released her first project—an EP named after herself—on August 9, 2019. Lulu mentioned her early inspiration behind choosing a career in music:

"We used to make up songs as we were walking through Central Park or in the bath."

She was born into a musical home where her mother and father were already established in the industry. Although musicians surrounded her throughout her childhood, Lulu chose to find herself privately. She would often sing quietly in the bathroom with the shower open due to her lack of confidence.

Lulu, inspired by melodies from the 1980s, exhibited her taste for the sounds of Generation X when she followed up her 2019 EP with a groovy-sounding single titled "Strangers." In the following generations, Lulu took a liking to Britney Spears and Lana Del Rey.

The 26-year-old sees live performances as an opportunity to learn the physical and visual expression of the sound as she came up accustomed to predated methods of performing with her guitar. She is preparing to be a starring guest on Zolita's tour, which begins on February 18, 2023.

Gabriel Simon

In 1998, Gabriel Simon, the youngest of Paul's four children, was born. Gabriel is the only exception among Paul's children, as he shied away from pursuing a career in music. Gabriel, now aged 24, lives a life away from the attention of the media, and there is not much information about him.

He was born two years before Paul's tenth studio album, "You're the One." His fans and music lovers worldwide received the album well, earning him a Grammy nomination in 2001 for Album of the Year. The nomination was an iconic milestone that made Paul the first artist to be nominated in that category in five consecutive decades.
