Lisa Marie Presley has died at the young age of 54. The singer/songwriter was rushed to the hospital on the morning of January 12, 2023, after she was found unresponsive at her home and pronounced dead later that day.
Presley, who was the only child of the late Elvis Presley and his wife, Priscilla Presley, lived a life indelibly marked by her famous father. She shared his dark good looks, hooded eyes, and somewhat mocking smile, and her singing voice hearkened back to his low, sultry tone.

Presley dedicated her professional life to honoring her father's legacy. An artist in her own right, sharing the stage with roxk legends like Pat Benatar, she released music, including tracks that melded her vocals with his. Speaking about his influence, Presley said:
"It's not something that I now listen to and it's different. Although I might listen closer, I remain consistent on the fact that I've always been an admirer. He's always influenced me."
Until its sale in 2005, Presley owned and managed Elvis Presley Enterprises, an umbrella company comprising a variety of businesses, including her father's Graceland estate in Memphis.

A Hard Loss
Presley, who tragically lost her son Benjamin Keough in 2020, is survived by her three daughters: Riley Keough and twins Finley Aaron Love Lockwood and Harper Vivienne Ann Lockwood.
She loved spending time with her girls, saying they were her favorite people who helped her get through the day.
Five months before her death, Presley wrote an essay about how she was dealing with loss and grief. She described losing a loved one as an explosion that leaves utter destruction in its wake.
Nothing is ever the same, especially for a parent who loses a child tragically and prematurely. "But I keep going for my girls," she admitted.
Presley was married four times. She had Riley, 33, and Benjamin during her first marriage to musician Danny Keough. Riley is an accomplished actress set to star in "Daisy Jones & the Six" this year. Like her mother, she was greatly affected by her brother's death. Speaking on how Benjamin was like his grandfather, Presley said of her only son:
"He was at the Opry and was the quiet storm behind the stage! Everybody turned around and looked when he was over there. Everybody was grabbing him for a photo because it is just uncanny. Sometimes I am overwhelmed when I look at him."
Even though the singer believed she saw her father's spirit in all her children, friends and fans agreed that her son strongly resembled his grandfather. Presley had a special bond with her only son; they even had matching Celtic knot tattoos to signify their eternal love for one another.
A source close to the family described the young man as "the love of her (Presley's) life." She was inconsolable after he died and lived under a cloud of grief. The mother marked the anniversary of her son's death with a tribute saying that he had been too good for this world.
The mom of four tried to give her children a normal childhood free from the intimidation of having to live up to their famous relatives' celebrity.
After brief marriages to Nicholas Cage and Michael Jackson, Presley wed guitarist Michael Lockwood, with whom she shares 14-year-old twins, Harper and Finley. Presley has said that she was emboldened to keep going and care for her girls on her son's behalf.
Mama Lion and Her Cubs
Presley centered her life on being a mother, and her children were her whole universe. She loved spending time with her girls, saying they were her favorite people and helped her get through the day. Speaking about her children, Presley said:
"They are my priority. That’s what I do. That’s what I care most about. I keep them close to me and make sure they are happy and healthy."
In 2014, Presley also described herself as an overly protective mom. " I am very protective. I just smother them in love and I am also ferociously protective," she admitted.
Speaking about her mom's parenting style, Riley said that her mom didn't want her and her siblings to grow up like typical celebrity children. She kept the tabloids and cameras out of their world and focused on developing them as people.

She wanted them to make their own decisions and be established in their chosen path on their own merit. When pressed to talk about her son's career, she firmly reiterated that she would let him do his own thing.
On January 12, 2023, paramedics responded to a call concerning Presley and made efforts to revive the singer. Having done CPR, they rushed her to a nearby hospital in West Hills for urgent medical attention. By evening, she was gone, and her remaining family is processing another loss in such a short time.
Presley's mom, Priscila, bore the difficult task of telling the world that her daughter was gone. In a statement she made the night her daughter died, she said:
“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”
Lisa Marie Presley was so full of life, celebrating her father's birthday at Graceland just earlier this month. She was touched by tragedy at nine years old when he died and again when she lost her beloved son Benjamin. But now she is reunited with the father and son that she adored.
