Connor Payton Played Football Ever Since He Was a Child
It's no surprise that football runs in Connor's blood. Born in Texas, he played for the Liberty Christian Warriors in Argyle, Texas, while in his sixth grade. The team was lucky as his school hired his dad to become an offensive coordinator.
The hiring happened when Sean was suspended from coaching the New Orleans Saints of the NFL. He then moved back to Texas and became fully involved in his children's lives.
Around that time, Connor also spent more time with his dad, who refused to do any TV deals because he prioritized his son's team. In an interview, he said:
"The best thing about the suspension is the time it's allowed me to spend with the children."
Having his dad coach his team helped their team become better. His dad ran the offense while working with the head coach Brennan Hardy and they won 30-0 in their first game.
Connor Payton's Life with His Dad Was Made into a Film
In addition to winning most of their games, they made Connor's time with his dad during the coach's suspension into a film. The movie, "Home Team," with Adam Sandler as one of its producers, was released on January 28, 2022, by Netflix.
In the movie, Connor was played by Tait Blum, while Kevin James played his father. Other casts were Taylor Lautner, Gary Valentine, Chloe Fineman, Bryant Tardy, Rob Schneider, Jackie Sandler, who played his mother, and more.
The movie is a biographical sports comedy, and it focuses on the life of Connor and his father after his dad became his middle-school football coach following Sean's suspension from the NFL.
His father used an uncomplicated version of the New Orleans Saints playbook to teach the sixth graders, improving their game and making them play almost undefeated.
Connor Payton's Parents Divorced after Nearly 20 Years of Marriage
In 2012, the same time his dad was facing suspension, Connor's dad sought divorce from his mom Beth Shuey on the grounds of "discord or conflict of personalities" after almost two decades together.
In the filing, his father wanted equal division of their assets and joint custody of their children. However, his mother filed a counter-petition and wanted primary custody of him and his sister, among other demands.

Connor's father proposed to her in November 2019, and they wedded at the One&Only Palmilla resort in Mexico in June 2021 after the Coronavirus pandemic delayed their wedding.
