Thelma Riley Experienced Many Hardships as Ozzy Osbourne's Wife

Thelma Riley was married to Ozzy Osbourne for over a decade after they met on a night out. However, the marriage was not without its ups and downs, as Ozzy Osbourne admitted to being unfaithful to Themla with his current wife.

A wild night at a pub led to marriage for Thelma and Ozzy, who fell in love with the divorcée the moment he saw her. Themla came into the relationship with a son and welcomed two more while married to the rock legend.

However, things took a turn for the worse between Ozzy's drinking, his cold relationship with Thelma's son, and his romance with his current wife, Sharon Osbourne, which led to his and Thelma's divorce.

A Chance Meeting in a Bar Brought Thelma and Ozzie Together

Fresh off signing a record deal, Ozzy and a friend visited a local pub called the Rum Runner. After greeting another friend walking past the rope at the entrance, he spotted Thelma. He said:

"The first thing I saw is this dark-haired chick behind the counter in the cloakroom.... She was beautiful, and I wanted to talk to her."

The famous musician recalled doing what he always did when she wanted to approach a woman— he got drunk. As the night unfolded, they enjoyed each other's company on the dance floor and shared a kiss in the back of Ozzy's friend Ford Cortina.

As their relationship progressed, Thelma and her ex rented an apartment in a fancy part of Birmingham, England. A year later, in 1971, Thelma and her ex tied the knot at the registry office.

Ozzy and Black Sabbath were preparing to take their success to American shores; however, he ensured he made time for his relationship. On one occasion, Ozzy put his culinary skills to the test and prepared a homemade pizza. However, he humorously said:

"It was like somebody had been sick in there. Thelma just looked at it and went, 'I don't think I like pizza, John.'"

During their relationship, Ozzy adopted Thelma's son from a previous relationship, Elliot Kingsley. He was five when he came into Ozzy's life. However, they did not have a close relationship.

Thelma's ex-husaband's drinking had gotten out of hand, and he recalled mistreating Thelma and Elliot, who already faced difficulty growing up without knowing his biological father. While on tour, Thelma's ex-husband had also been unfaithful.

He detailed multiple occasions where he would have relations with other women after shows. "If I loved Thelma, I certainly didn't treat her like I did," Ozzy said.

Before going their separate ways, Thelma and her former husband welcomed two children, their daughter Jessica and their son Louis. And according to reports, Thelma became a teacher.

Thelma Riley Said Her Final Word on Her Relationship with Ozzie

During their marriage, Thelma's ex-husband began to have an affair with his current wife, Sharon. In an attempt to save their marriage, the former couple and their children vacationed in the Bahamas.

However, Ozzy could not control his drinking, which was on a new level during the getaway. While they were on the plane ride home, Ozzy recalled:

"Thelma turned to me and said, 'This is the end, John. I want a divorce.' I thought, 'Ah, she's just [angry] because of the ship incident. She'll come to her sense.' But she never did."

Thelma and her ex-husband's divorce was finalized in June 1982. Although he was hesitant to leave Thelma out of fear of it affecting their children, Ozzy entered his next and last marriage a month later, during which he welcomed three children.

Thelma Riley Attended Her Son's Wedding and Became a Grandmother

While nothing is known about whether Thelma remarried or the state of her life following her divorce, she celebrated becoming a grandmother in 2002 when her daughter, Jessica, welcomed a daughter.

In 2003, Thelma's celebrated her son's wedding as he married actress Louise Lennon; however, his father was a missing face in the crowd.

That same year, Thelma and her ex-husband's home in Birmingham went up for sale. However, the house already had different owners, as Ozzy Osbourne and Thelma had not lived there in years.
