Some of Madonna's siblings were dealt a rough hand in life, but the iconic musician helped them get back on their feet, even after publicly speaking ill of her. They've since mended fences, despite their initially tumultuous relationships.

In June 2021, Madonna took social media by storm when a series of photos featuring her sisters went viral, depicting them at their dad Silvio "Tony" Ciccone's 90th birthday celebration. It was a family affair, as more of her siblings were in attendance, along with her children.

The celebration took place at Silvio's Michigan vineyard, where Madonna posed for photos and clips alongside her sisters, Melanie, Paula, and Jennifer. The latter three were rarely spotted with Madonna and had differing individual relationships with the musician.

While the event seemed a happy one for everyone present, some of the Ciccone siblings weren't always on good terms with their famous sister. Her brothers especially didn't take a liking to her and had publicly expressed their disdain toward Madonna.

However, Madonna still came to their aid when they battled substance abuse and would get on the wrong side of the law. And although Madonna's life alone has been illustrious, her siblings also led their own, with some marrying and having children.

Anthony Ciccone

Anthony Ciccone is Madonna's eldest brother, who lived in the streets for seven years before returning home. He resided under a bridge in a small town in Michigan, where the weather would plunge to -86F at times.

He previously worked as a stage set carpenter, but his life took a turn for the worst in the late 90s when he lost his job. Shortly after being rendered unemployed, his former girlfriend left him and took their son, Angelo, who will be 29 or 30 by this year's end.

Anthony succumbed to alcohol addiction in the following years but was redeemed in 2005 when his dad offered him work in his winery. Yet five years later, he was back on the streets after Silvio and his wife discovered he was drinking the wine from the vats.

When he was interviewed later, Anthony accused his father and Madonna of not caring if he froze to death as a homeless man. He went as far as saying he and Madonna never loved each other and that Silvio would prefer if he died of hypothermia anyway.

However, according to family and friends, Madonna repeatedly tried reaching out to Anthony to offer help, but with no success. He had a few brushes with the law, including charges of trespass and disturbance of the peace.

Thankfully, he found the help he needed at Dann's House in Traverse City, Michigan, and was rehabilitated. He returned home in 2017, as his younger brother confirmed to the U.K. publication Mirror, and furthered his recovery.

Martin Ciccone

Like Anthony, Martin Ciccone also had a troubled past and struggled with alcohol addiction. However, by 2013, he'd been sober for a year. Still, Martin's life saw some rough years as he battled substance abuse and was arrested for driving under the influence three times.

On the third count, he was sentenced to three months in jail. Afterward, he poured his frustrations into his 1994 hip-hop album "Judgement Day," where he revealed he was sexually assaulted while serving time. He also took the liberty of throwing jabs at Madonna.

Regardless, the singer offered to pay for his rehabilitation in 1999, and he missed her wedding with Guy Ritchie the following year. In 2013, she also promised to buy him new teeth. By then, Martin was living a humble life, helping other people overcome substance abuse at Alcoholics Anonymous.

Paula Ciccone

Paula Siccone was born on August 22, 1959. She pursued a career in the entertainment industry in the 1990s, appearing in 1994's "I Love Trouble," starring Julia Roberts and Nick Nolte, and 1997's "Mutual Needs."

Paula also wanted to be a model, but it seems she cut her time under the Hollywood spotlight short. She once appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," where she opened up about her relationship with Madonna and how "fame changes people."

Christopher Ciccone

Christopher Ciccone also joined the entertainment industry, directing music videos and major concert tours. He also worked as an interior and furniture designer and has experience in writing, photography, and fashion.

Christopher was the one who confirmed that Anthony had returned home in 2017 after several years on the streets. He also had a rough patch with Madonna after releasing his book "Life with My Sister Madonna" in 2008.

There, he used the words "moody," "bossy," and "mean" to describe his sister. Christopher also claimed that while he worked for Madonna in New York, she underpaid him and treated him poorly. The siblings reportedly reconciled after over a decade following the book's publication.

Melanie Ciccone

Melanie Ciccone was born in 1962, and she is Madonna's closest sister, whom the "Papa Don't Preach" songstress referred to as "Smells." She's married to Joe Henry and has children with the songwriter.

When Madonna gave birth to one of her kids, Lourdes Leon—whose adopted siblings are David Banda and twins Stella and Estere—Melanie was there to hold her hand. Though Melanie graduated with a degree in Spanish Literature and Language from Michigan State University, she works as an artist.

Jennifer Ciccone

Jennifer Ciccone was born in 1967, and she is Madonna's half-sister. She was born from her father's marriage to Joan Ciccone, the woman he married following Madonna's mother's death. Jennifer works as an art teacher in Michigan. She also got married in her father's vineyard in 2011.

Mario Ciccone

Mario is also Madonna's half-sibling, and he's the baby of the Ciccone family. Like Jennifer, he married in July 2011 and has three children. He once worked at his sister's record label, Maverick, but as of 2011, he was running his father's vineyard.
