The half-sister of a Hollywood actress, Gloria was described as a hard-working person by her son. She encouraged Travis— who has multiple tattoos in honor of his late mother— to pursue different instruments, including singing.

And before her passing when Travis was young, Gloria's son revealed that she had urged him never to put down his drumsticks and chase his dreams of becoming a musician.

Everyone Called Gloria Cookie

Gloria Marie Rose McCarty, affectionately known as "Cookie" by those close to her, was born in Chicago on September 10, 1947. Of some Indian origin, Gloria had a half-sister who paved a career as a Hollywood actress.

On the other hand, Gloria, who was described as "very pretty" with a slender frame and weighing around ninety-seven pounds, was a mother of three and ran a day-care from her home to support the children she shared with Travis's father. Her son shared:

"Happy Mother's Day to the most amazing woman/ mom ever... she passed away... have thought about her and missed her every day since."

Gloria's Husband Is Still Alive

Before her son's Italian wedding with Kourtney Kardashian, Gloria's husband, Randy Barker, was present when the drummer and the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star officially married at a Santa Barbara courthouse.

In July 2022, Kourtney shared never-before-seen images from her special day where she and Travis were joined by her maternal grandmother.

Travis was young when his parents were going through the divorce process at the time that his mother got sick, and since her passing, the father and son have shared a close relationship.

Travis posted a picture of Randy appearing to struggle to walk as he gripped a walker. Travis was dressed in black and had a hand on the walk as he aided his father along.

Gloria's Son Has Several Tattoos in Her Honor

Following Gloria's passing, her son has received different tattoos across his body in her honor. The drummer has the word "Mom" tattooed on the back of his neck.

Gloria Unfortunately Passed Away

Gloria died of cancer when her son was still young; however, over the years the drummer has given different numbers of how old he was when Gloria died. In September 2014, Gloria's son celebrated her birthday and shared:

"Today's my Mom's Birthday. Lost her when I was 11. Not a day goes by I don't miss her; she was the best Mom I could ask for. I know she's (with) me everywhere I go, and I hope she's proud. Lucky to still have my Pops."

That same year Travis dedicated a sentimental post to Gloria on Mother's day and typed, "Happy Mother's Day to the most amazing woman/Mom ever. That's her in the middle; she passed away the day before high school when I was 13."

"I was devastated, to say the least, and have thought about her & missed her every day since. Kiss your Mom's today if you got one, love them while they are here. And a big Happy Mother's Day to all the great Mom's out there," he added.

During an interview Gloria's son revealed that her last words to him were, "Play the drums and don't care about anything else in life but doing the things you love."
