'Wednesday’s Gwendoline Christie Slays in ‘Iconic’ Golden Makeup & Head-To-Toe Black Outfit
After enduring bullying as a child and being told she would never make it as an actress due to her looks, Gwendoline Christie proved naysayers wrong when she received praise from fans for her chic look during a public appearance amid her successful career as an actress.
After landing the role of principal Larissa Weems on "Wednesday," Christie has become a fan favorite for her acting skills. And, on March 21, she attended a dinner to celebrate the opening of Schiaparelli and wowed in an all-black outfit from the high-end fashion brand.
Christie wore her hair to one side and over her shoulder with a gold statement necklace. She completed the look with gold makeup, and one fan wrote, "The makeup is incredible." Another fan shared, "Oh, my Goth! Your look is amazing, Gwen!" while a third typed, "If the sun had a name, it would be called Gwendoline Christie."

The "Wednesday" actress— costarring Jenna Ortega, Riki Lindhome, and Catherine-Zeta Jones— has also opted for an all-black outfit in the past. On February 18, she attended the Charles Finch x CHANEL Pre-BAFTA Dinner in London wearing flared pants and a long coat. The following day, she arrived at the EE BAFTA Film Awards in a dramatic, floor-length gown with leather detailing.

Before her success as an actress, Christie revealed she was an ordinary high school student bullied for her tall height and told she would never make it as an actress due to her "unconventional appearance." However, the actress chose not to focus on the bullying but instead allowed it to motivate her. Christie said:
"I'm really not interested in talking about the bullying; what I am interested in is transcending that because there is too much of an emphasis on suffering. We need to look at how we overcome it."
The actress related to her character's experience of being treated like an outcast in "Wednesday" and appreciated the freedom she was given to play her role. Gwendoline Christie also credited the show's hair and makeup department, saying, "It is the first time I have ever felt beautiful on screen."
