Yuko Kubota Is Josh Blue Ex-wife Who Inspired a Lot of His Jokes
Yuko Kubota, Josh Blue's ex-wife, was a Japanese nurse whose second language was English. Despite their differences, they fell in love and welcomed two children. Now divorced, the pair continues to co-parent their kids well.
Because of his great sense of humor and undeniable wit, Josh Blue can easily make an entire room laugh with only a few words. He first discovered his interest in the craft while studying creative writing at The Evergreen State College in Washington.
He has since pursued a career in entertainment, appearing several times on television, such as on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and "Comics Unleashed." While the talent is all his, his wife, Yuko Kubota, was often the star of his jokes.
Blue and Kubota met through mutual friends in Boulder, Colorado. Although it wasn't love at first sight, the comedian already felt sparks fly when he saw her, but the feeling wasn't mutual. In fact, it took some time before Kubota agreed to date him.
Once their relationship began, the couple found happiness in each other. They tied the knot in 2008 and lived in marital bliss despite Blue's busy work schedule, traveling to different places.
Josh Blue's Stand-up Joke about How He Met Yuko Kubota Online
Blue once incorporated how he met his wife during a stand-up segment, claiming he "got" her online thinking it was an oriental rug. He joked about when she came to his house:
"She just looked at me up and down, and she like looks around real fast, and she looks at me again. She goes, 'You take your shoes off. This is [an] Asian house now.'"
He also said they learned to compromise during their marriage, so he no longer wore his outside shoes inside their home.
Yuko Kubota Often Was a Hero of His Stand-up Comedy
Kubota was mentioned in many more of her husband's performances, and fans learned more about her and their marriage each time. Blue once revealed Kubota was a Japanese nurse, hence his joke about how they met.
However, she can speak English, her second language. "That's worked out fine," the comedian quipped. "You don't really need to understand everything the other person says." He also joked that it was best for her that she didn't understand everything he said.
Blue also jokingly called out other couples who don't listen to what their partner says, adding that it's sometimes better not to understand what the other person states.
Blue called him and Kubota a "diverse couple" who, despite their differences, got along well. During their marriage, he visited Japan three times to learn more about his wife's culture.
In another stand-up comedy show, he referred to Kubota as the most important person in his life and an amazing wife. Although they didn't always travel together, the couple had each other in mind. Previously, Blue revealed Kubota brought him a gift from China.

In 2012, Blue gave his fans a glimpse of their children's lives at home as he posted a photo of the siblings enjoying their food.

Despite their decision, Kubota and Blue continue to prioritize their children and have successfully co-parented. As of 2021, the once-married couple was in respective relationships.
