Arnold Schwarzenegger is the father of four beautiful children, one of whom is his daughter Katherine. Katherine is married to actor Chris Pratt, and together the couple has welcomed their own children.

Katherine and Chris have welcomed daughters Eloise and Lyla into the family, turning tough-guy Arnold into a doting grandfather who loves spending time with his granddaughters at his home, where he lives alone.

Three years ago, Arnold's daughter, who he shares with his ex-wife Maria Shriver, married actor Chris Pratt. Arnold was pleased about their wedding and called Chris a "great guy." Arnold also acknowledged his son-in-law's acting prowess and found him talented.

While Arnold is grateful that his daughter is happy and being treated well by her husband, he joked that she was being competitive as Chris is taller than him, has done bigger movies than him, and makes more money than him. They are both familiar being action heroes, starring in titles like "Terminator" and Chris as "Star Lord."

Although Arnold joked that he would have to compete with Chris, the pair get along well. Chris even asked Arnold if they could have a workout together when they first met, as he wanted the "inside scoop" about working out.

Arnold joked that when he and Chris did a workout together, and he saw how dedicated he was, he knew that he would allow the younger man to marry his daughter. The actor said watching Chris do the incline press sealed the deal for him.

When Chris wanted to marry Katherine, he went about it traditionally, first approaching her parents and asking for her hand in marriage. Arnold believed this was an essential part of their lives.

Many fans noted that Arnold was incredibly proud of his daughter and her husband, saying that it showed when Arnold joked that Chris was better than him in all aspects, even though he had so many achievements under his belt.

What Was Arnold's Fear After Finding Out He'd Be a Grandpa for the First Time

Before becoming a grandfather, Arnold said that while he would like his daughter and Chris to start their own family, he wouldn't pressure them because he knew they would do it on their own time.

Katherine and Chris' children are the first grandchildren of Arnold and Maria. While Arnold was delighted to learn that his daughter was pregnant, he had some fears surrounding becoming a grandfather for the first time.

In May 2020, Katherine announced that she was expecting her first child. Arnold talked about the exciting news, saying he didn't know when the baby would be born but that he was elated.

He said the child would have three unique gene pools, the Kennedys, the Pratts, and the Schwarzennegers. However, there was one thing that Schwarzenneger was scared of when his grandchild was born.

Arnold referenced the various titles each of the respective gene pools had starred in and what they could mean for his grandchildren, saying:

"We can go and solve the Cuban Missile Crisis, we can go and kill Predators with our bare hands, and we can train dinosaurs. Think about it. That is a lot of power here."

While Arnold thought the child could take on the world at any time, he feared that the child would inherit his accent. He thought this would be the worst thing that could happen.

None of Arnold's children have his accent, and now his grandchildren speak with an American accent, proving his fear to be unfounded. Yet he loves and cherishes them no matter what.

What Do Arnold's Grandbabies Call Him when They Play at Grandpa's Farm

After divorcing Maria and being shrouded by controversy for many years, Arnold moved onto a farm, where he lives alone. Yet he is never lonely because his grandchildren often visit him there.

Arnold has farm animals on his property, which his granddaughters love and term the "petting zoo." When Lyla was just eight months old, she had been to Arnold's house and sat on the backs of the donkeys, prompting Arnold to believe she would be a great horseback rider.

While he enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, he says that he never changed diapers or did any of the dirty work because his daughter was the expert, and he allowed her to care for her children.

However, he did tell his daughter that he had held enough babies in his lifetime to know exactly how to handle hers. Yet he knew her apprehension when someone else held her child was natural, and he wasn't offended when his daughter told him what to do.

A year ago, Chris and Katherine welcomed their second daughter, Eloise, and Arnold's joy was multiplied when he became a grandfather again. The actor believes that being a grandfather is the easiest thing. He joked:

"They come over to the house, you know. You play with Lyla for around an hour or two. I put her on the horse, I put her with the dog, I play with the dog, and after two hours, they leave."

He gushed that when his daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughters visit him, his whole house lights up, and he loves spending time with each of them. He often talks about how proud he is of his daughter and Chris.

While his granddaughters are still young, they love spending time with their grandfather on his farm as much as he loves having them there. Now that they are older, they have begun using a word native to their grandfather's home country to refer to him.

Recently, Chris shared what his daughter affectionately calls their Austrian-born grandfather. The "Jurassic World" actor revealed that Lyla and Eloise call Arnold "Opa." While they do not have the Austrian accent Arnold had feared, they do indeed use an Austrian term to refer to him.
