'Riverdale' Casey Cott & His Wife Makes Fans Feel Weird Choosing 'Sponsorship for a Pregnancy Announcement'
Casey Cott and his wife took to Instagram to announce they were expecting their first child but were met with criticism from fans for using their pregnancy announcement as a partnership post with a brand.
In a recent Instagram post, Casey and his wife Nichola Basara shared the joyous news that they were pregnant with their first child with a picture of the actor planting a kiss on his partner's head as she held up a Clearblue pregnancy test that read, "Pregnant."
"Mrs. Cott's got a baby in her belly!!! Thank you, @clearblue, for confirming in words that we are PREGNANT! There is nothing better than seeing that word pop up on the screen after taking a test! #ClearblueConfirmed #ClearbluePartner," he captioned the post, and in the comments section, Casey's "Riverdale" co-stars showered him with congratulatory messages.
Vanessa Morgan commented with multiple black hearts, while Lili Reinhart wrote, "So, so happy for you both." "Congratulations," Marisol Nichols shared, and Lochlyn Munro typed, "Congrats, my friend." However, Casey's comments section was flooded with criticism from social media users who questioned his choice to use his pregnancy announcement as a partnership post with Clearblue.
"The pregnancy test sponsorship gave me the ick so bad," one person wrote, and another shared, "Hold on... A sponsorship for a pregnancy announcement? Y'all wildin' lol (sic)."

"This is so sad. Why would you make your pregnancy announcement a cash grab? Are you gonna make your child only wear sponsored clothes?" a third user asked, and a fourth commented, "Nothing like a 2in1 announcement and advertisement." One of Casey's "Riverdale" co-stars, Hart Denton, also chimed in, typing "Wild deliverables for this sponsorship."
Casey and Nichola announced that they were officially husband and wife in December 2021 after he shared a picture of the newlyweds kissing while he held up his finger to flaunt his wedding band. The couple tied the knot surrounded by his Riverdale cast mates, including Drew Ray Tanner, KJ Apa, and Madelaine Petsch, while other "Riverdale" stars celebrated the couple on Instagram. Casey and Nichola's special day came after he announced their engagement in 2020 with a snap of Nichola's engagement ring.
Originally from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Casey is commonly known for playing Kevin Keller on "Riverdale." However, the actor's career also includes directing credits and roles in "Black Spartans" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" in 1999.
