Idris Elba & Wife Sabrina Dhowre Celebrate 4th Anniversary With Romantic Beach-Side Dinner
It's been four years since Idris Elba and Sabrina Dhowre tied the knot, and the famous couple recently took to Instagram to commemorate the special occasion. Elba and Dhowre's relationship comes after the actor revealed he did not want to get married again following two previous marriages.
Both Elba and Dhowre turned to Instagram in honor of their 4th wedding anniversary, with the former sharing a picture of him and his wife dressed to the nines and surrounded by palm trees as they enjoyed a candle-lit dinner. "Happy Anniversary… You You (sic)," Elba captioned the post, which also captured him planting a kiss on his wife's cheek.
Dhowre, on the other hand, posted a humorous video of her and her famous husband attempting to overcome her fear of water as they walked down a slight slope on the beach before running back up as the waves came crashing in. "Happy 4th-anniversary, baby. Thank you for always helping me try to conquer my fears," her post read.
However, the celebrations did not stop there, as Dhowre shared a snap of a large bouquet of multi-colored and different types of flowers on her Instagram story. "Thank you, baby," she wrote. Elba and Dhowre tied the knot in Morocco on a Friday evening in April 2019. She walked down the aisle in an off-the-shoulder gown from Vera Wang that she paired with a vail while the actor donned a three-piece Ozwald Boateng suit.
"My family is from East Africa, and Idris's is from West Africa, so we thought it would be fun to meet somewhere in between," Dhowre said. In front of 200 of their closest friends and family, Elba and Dhowre said "I do" before celebrating with performances from Afrobeats star Davido and Somali women doing a traditional dance.
"I had famously said I'd never get married again [after two previous marriages], and here I was about to marry Sabrina, and we really got into questioning why. 'What has changed?'" Elba said. Shortly after getting married, Dhowre and the "Daddy's Little Girls" star became business partners after starting a project together.
And Sabrina Dhowre shared that it made the relationship feel like it was "forever growing, changing, and evolving." After a challenging 2020, Idris Elba admitted to finding a sense of comfort in knowing his wife is his "ride or die."
